Is it still a mumbob if its wavy?

I cut my own hair according to a youtube tutorial Grin its not horrific, but im not happy, it takes a lot of styling to make it look GOOD. I think it can be fixed by hacking it off just above the shoulder, but im horrified at the thought of being mumbobbed! My hair is naturally wavy/curly though, would it be edgg enough that way to not make me frumpy? I had a proper classic bob when i was 10 (and weirdly my hair was straighter?) and it just looked gross.

Also, any reccs for products to enhance waves, my hair is v fine and can go cloudlike. Done curlygirl but didnt get on with it.

What Whizzler said about toblerone head. Curly bobs need a good cut and regular maintenance! I have very thick and curly hair, when I had a bob it looked good because my hairdresser was great but I had to go regularly or I just had a slightly shapeless triangle of hair. I now have a pixie cut and they're actually about the same level of maintenance. Except that these days when I really need a haircut I look like a mushroom, not a toblerone.

My version of plopping is just wrapping it in an old t-shirt while I get dressed. If I don't use the dryer on it, it takes all day to dry and ends up trashed before it's dry, hence 10 minutes with the diffuser. I can't sleep with wet hair. It can't be terribly good for the bed, either.

Straightening it involves 10 minutes of armache with the hairdryer and a round brush and far too much work with the straighteners for my liking and leaves it too Crispy at the ends to go longer than a few weeks without a cut. I also don't think it suits me. It's harsh and accentuates my turkey neck, while my natural wave is soft and flattering, even if it looks a bit mad, sometimes.

I may be a bit late to this thread, but bobs, lobs and wavy bobs and lobs especially have been really fashionable over the last few years. When people used the term
Mumbob a few years ago it was I think designed to describe a very safe haircut.

I don't get the snobbery of the 'speak to the manager meme'. Her hair looks perfectly nice and very common around here.

It’s just another stick to beat women with RuffleCrow. Don’t get this haircut because you’ll look too.....assertive? Get soft blonde curls instead, much more feminine.

So true. A woman's place is in the wrong and all that.

I use the babyliss keratin smooth thingy instead of blowdrying - it takes about the same time as blow drying, i'm not going for poker straight, it still has a bit of wave and seems happy to stay that way.

I didnt like cg because it was time consuming, but i also felt i didnt look groomed enough for my job and you can only have that one curly look!

Toblerone hair made me laugh out loud! Not heard that one before! The person who I think rocked the curly bob was Sarah-Jessica Parker back in the day, mind you she has the most beautiful hair however she wears it.

Get it done like Fleabag or keep it longer ie between chin and shoulder. It's called a lob (long bob) Victoria Beckham did it spectacularly well.

CountFosco · 27/04/2019 18:30

If you are a woman over 30 then however you have you hair it will be wrong. Long hair? Trying to be young? Bob? Must be a mumbob (which just seems to be a bob that is not excessively styled, over the years here I've seen every kind of bob you might see on a real person described as a mumbob). Pixie? Given up. Dyed? Trying to cling to your youth? Naturally greying? Given up.

There is no way a woman can win when it comes to our appearance, whatever we do it sends out a message that someone somewhere will dislike, there is no neutral.

You either have the face to carry off shorter hair or you don't. Nothing to do with being a mum. If you think you're going to look like a frump without long hair then just leave it long.

Ahhh, the SJP is exactly what i was thinking!!!
