Should toe and finger nail colour match?

Please let a clueless lady know the correct etiquette when it comes to painting fingers and toes

I'd say complement rather than match. So colours that look nice alongside each other and don't massively clash, but no need for them to be massively matchy matchy and certainly not the same.

I usually have them not matching, but then I never have my toes on show in public, so no one would know.

My infallible but random and illogical law is that toes must be darker than hands

If coloured then yes, if fingers have a french polish then no.

My understanding is that toes should be a more vibrant shade than fingers. I do try and keep colours that tone together though. My nail technician suggests this.

I did not realise painting nails was so complicated!!

I tend to use quite a dark, or at least 'strong' colour on my toes throughout the Summer, but rarely have varnish on my fingers, as it just chips with daily life. On the odd occasion I do put some on my fingers, it would be likely to be a clear polish or a pale colour, so I'd say no.

No hard and fast rules but if they are not matching it looks nicer if one is neutral/french polish.

My fingernails are usually bare and my toenails are normally harlot red.

I only paint my toes when on holiday. Does anyone ever look at your toes, then your fingernails and draw some weird judgement??? I can’t say I’ve ever noticed anyone’s

I go darker on my toes than my fingers

French fingers & blue toes

Nope, I don't think it matters. But then I only paint my toes because I can't for love nor money keep my fingers from chipping, even when they're done in a salon, I can almost always guarantee that within 24 hours at least one nail is chipped or smudged 😭
