No, not acceptable in my workplace except at relaxed team meetings. Then only junior staff.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 26/04/2019 20:15

Obviously there are many different types of workplace, so impossible to answer question really. If you are asking if they are acceptable at your workplace then you need to tell us what sort of work you do.

LizB62A · 26/04/2019 20:21

It depends.
Do other people wear sandals where you work?

I wear sandals to work as do lots of people where I work.
That's no help to you though unless you work where I work !

KNain · 26/04/2019 20:27

Totally depends on where you work and the job you do. I work in an office where it would be totally fine for half of the office - even flip flops and sliders would probably be ok - and any sandals at all would be totally inappropriate for the other half.

babysharkah · 26/04/2019 20:35

There's very different types of sandal!

5thSparrow · 26/04/2019 20:40

It's a small office in the oil and gas industry. It's a relaxed office but not sure if sandals would be 'too relaxed'.

Some of my colleagues have started wearing sandals. I am a weirdo and hate it, can't stand other people's feet Grin. Makes summer lots of fun trying to avoid looking at all the toes 🤢

evilharpy · 27/04/2019 07:14

Not acceptable at my office which has a formal business dress code.

wellhonestly · 27/04/2019 15:05

I would wear a closed-toe sandal at work (local government office) but not an open toe.

Some people wear open toed sandals, but then some people wear low-cut strappy tops and v short skirts and I wouldn't wear those to work either. Just looks a bit too casual for my liking - kindof sunbathing in the park wear.

SardineJam · 27/04/2019 15:07

I think it depends on the type of sandal. I wear a pair of Clark's in the summer. Toes are in show, but they have a strap around the ankle and are quite 'structured'. I would say no to anything flip flop like or with toe posts.

Everyone wears sandals at my work but we aren’t allowed flip flops. Do you have a dress code?
