With a truly awful exchange rate atm is there still anything worth buying because you can’t get it here?? Beaty/skin/clothing??

Us skincare probably. Mac, Pixi etc seem a bit cheaper. Clothes. Nah. You can get everything in the UK for about the same cost. Depressingly enough their malls and high streets now look the same as ours (Karen Miller, Keihls, Lululemon, Gap, Banana republic). Although if you are in the market for Lululemon or Tiffany that's significantly cheaper.

Maybe check zappos for saltwater sandals if that’s your thing, def got mine for about £35 before.

Expressedways · 26/04/2019 04:10

Crest white strips if you want to whiten your teeth as you can’t get them in the UK. Otherwise Sephora is worth a trip but I’d do your beauty shopping tax free at the airport in the UK, it’ll probably be cheaper.

ImTheCaddy · 26/04/2019 04:36

Bath and body works mini hand sanitisers and holder.

trendingorange · 26/04/2019 04:38

I'm just back and I found everything seemed more expensive....

AgnesNaismith · 26/04/2019 04:41

Levi’s, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Free People and Kate Spade I found to be much cheaper.

StillNotMe · 26/04/2019 04:44

J. Crew in sales and Banana Republic. Michael Kors is much cheaper but I don't like the brand.
Otherwise it's pretty much the same as UK.

ZaraW · 26/04/2019 06:50

Nordstrom Rack have a really good shoe department, J Crew there's always a sale, Madewell and Jonathan Adler for homeware.

SarahBeeney · 26/04/2019 07:04

I love Old Navy. But it's not high end if that's what you're after.

eurochick · 26/04/2019 07:13

I was out there recently and got a Ralph Lauren bag I had had my eye on for sixty quid less than the U.K. price. J crew seemed much cheaper too.

NicoAndTheNiners · 26/04/2019 08:02

I'm going to America for the first time in a few weeks and am planning a trip to bath and bodyworks for candles and hand sanitisers. A trip to Sephora just to see what takes my fancy. And yes to Crest tooth whitening stuff. and hazelnut spread m&ms

spongedog · 26/04/2019 08:11

I went to NY last year and didnt bring back much of any interest. Some tourist bits for my son - from Joes - NY flip flops - they lasted. I did get some lego and mock lego in a sale at ToysRus but it wasnt really much cheaper. I bought some of the teeth whitening bits, Tylenol which I prefer to anything over here..

But it was funny when I went into my local pound shop a month after my return and saw the very nice biscuits I had bought in NY in there. I am not sure international bargains are there now!

queenofarles · 26/04/2019 08:56

I love American brands like Rag&bone , goldsign for jeans, Lisa Marie Fernandez, but I’m buying all of these here.
add sales taxes and there is no significant price difference,
I used to bring back William Sonoma’s pound cake mixes, and bread mixes, they are sooo delicious! But to my surprise I found them at harrods food hall.

Palaver1 · 28/04/2019 07:13

Nothing’s worth getting there this is from a shopper who used to get all and I say all the family clothes shopping there travelled up to 5 times a year.
Used to even bring popping corn which was so so cheap then.
Only things that I buy as a one off now are some handbags in the last sale as well as different items like different styled socks and tops a few trainers the styles are gorgeous and much much cheaper than here

Glitteryfrog · 28/04/2019 08:10

If you can get to one if the outlet malls then Levi's are probably still worth it, DH bought 3 pairs for about $90 earlier in the year.

feduuup · 28/04/2019 08:50

I only buy what I can't get in the UK.

feduuup · 28/04/2019 08:52

Oh we got some pretty good deals in a north face outlet. Levi and Ralph Lauren can come up very cheap in outlets with vouchers but they're not my thing. The US is generally much better for coupons and being able to apply them to duplicate offers etc.

Ginandtonic31 · 28/04/2019 11:39

I still find outlet shopping cheaper. I still get Levi's from the outlets as still cheaper than here. Sometimes Michael Kors bags. I'm heading to the Jimmy Choo outlet in Miami next week but not sure if I will find anything worth having. And also get all bras from Victoria Secrets outlet at about $12 each.

whotheeff · 28/04/2019 13:20

Nordstrom rack is great for designer jeans but after just moving back to the UK I'm finding most things much cheaper here except for skincare and cosmetics. Sales tax always gets added at the till so remember that on top of the sticker price.

whotheeff · 28/04/2019 13:21

Be careful with outlets - brands often make lower quality items for their outlet stores.

Tealfrog · 28/04/2019 13:28

Coach outlet can be good if one is handy.
