LOB with an undercut for thick wavy hair

I'm considering getting an undercut to make my thick hair quicker to style. There is so so so much hair on my head and I always look a bit triangle headed when I have a bob.

I need to dry and straightener wave my hair to make it look like nice manageable waves which takes ages. Has anyone had an undercut to take away some of that work?

Also, are undercuts just a bit naff now? When googling for styles I found lots of "how to grow out your undercut" type articles...

I have thick, curly hair. My hairdresser thins it out for me to make it a bit more manageable. I had an undercut when I was about 17, but wouldn't want to go there again.

Oh I’ve been toying with the idea of getting an undercut but I’ve got hair down my back, so watching with interest

I have thick, not-quite-straight hair which frizzes and kinks unless blow-dried to within an inch of its life. For the past couple of years I've had an undercut, initially on one side and then on both. It was fab! I did, however, have a pixie cut rather than a bob.

I last had the undercut done in July last year, and have been growing it out since then.... and it has been absolutely fine, there has only been a period of about one week when I almost rang the hairdresser to book an appointment for a Grade 2 Grin. I'm actually growing my hair into a bob, and when I've got there, if it behaves as trickily as I suspect it will, I will undercut the sides to make it more manageable for sure.

No, undercuts are not naff. Go for it! (And nothing beats the feeling of stroking your freshly clipped head Smile )

@BlackCatSleeping does your hairdresser thin it out using layers?

DD has similar sounding long hair & her undercut has helped drying time etc a lot. She loves it

I’ve got one purely to reduce the mass of hair I have, it definitely helps but sadly shows my greys on regrowth (sob sob) so I’m going to grow out the sideburns shaved bits and keep the under bit - saves me 10 mins daily on drying/straightening and my hair sits much better....

Yes I’ve got one underneath to reduce bulk and time to dry and style. Sam chapman (pixiwoo) has one for the same reasons. You should google her. You wouldn’t notice unless you are wearing it up high anyway
