The age old impossible quest - how to make your hair grow fast

Has anyone ever had any success whatsoever with any vitamins/products for hair growth? I swear I must have spent hundreds since my teens trying to make my hair grow faster, and there's so much snake oil online that it's impossible to sift through.

Has anyone ever had any success with a product?

I've been using Gorgeous Growth serum which got good reviews...I cant say it really does anything though! I was using it more to give my hair more life rather than make it grow faster.

I've heard good things about castor oil being used on roots (overnight then washed in the morning) but I think it helps hair breakage rather than growth but because the hair is breaking less it seems to grow faster IYSWIM.

Also some people rave about Biotin, when I tried it I broke out in huge red spots within a few days. Apparently its quite common but I didn't know and was not amused!

Thanks, I have tried castor oil, but it took about 5 shampoos in the morning to not look like a greasy otter! It was so hard to get out.

I took Biotin for about 6 months too, but that did naff all.

This might sound weird but I swear it’s true. When I was 19 I was in hospital in traction for 3 weeks as I had a slipped disc. This basically involved lying in a bed with the end by my feet elevated and a weight attached to a medical corset around my waist. I used to get headaches as the blood was going to my head all the time. At the end of this treatment I remember looking st myself in the mirror and my hair had grown about 2 inches! 😱

I thought I was imagining it but no, it was actually the constant blood flow to my head that had caused it. I know you can’t do this but if you could find ways of getting more blood to your head it might work? Inversion table, elevating the foot of your bed...?

My hair used to grow slowly. I have a full head of colour from natural blonde to brunette; I could actually go 2.5-3 months between root regrowth appointments rather than 6 weeks. Bare in mind that my natural blonde regrowth does not blend into my colour at all, the root regrowth is super stark in contrast but I could wait that long before it looked awful as my hair grew in that slowly.

I had low ferritin levels so started taking prescription iron supplements. I also take Centrum multivitamin and recently, Nourkin tablets.

I last had my roots coloured 2 weeks ago. I can already see my hair growing in! My hair looks to have 1-2cm of regrowth in areas. It definitely feels like it’s growing faster.

Vitamin D, zinc and B vitamins. Diet high in veggies and protein. (Although be aware B vitamins particularly b6/biotin can trigger spots in some people. I can't take them.)

Only wash your hair twice a week, use a wide tooth comb instead of a brush to reduce breakage, cut down on heat styling if you use it and massage your scalp once a day.

Def try a multivitamin. I take various vits for a health condition and my hair and nails grow like wildfire.
