What’s happened at Whistles?

Is it just me or is it awful now? I used to buy lots in there, lovely sweaters and work dresses, even coats, parka, leather jacket - everything. Now absolutely everything is boxy and huge and made for very tall people only - and their website is odd - the models even stand in a strange pose. I’ve tried a few dresses etc but all have gone back. Disappointing.

I used to love whistles but the prices are just stupid. There seems to have been a massive hike in everything and the fabrics/cuts don’t justify it.

I do still rate their accessories though.

I hate oasis though, too feminine for me. Interesting to know about warehouse- will give it another look.

You guys! Just spent a small fortune on the Warehouse site, - on quite a few dresses - now that was a surprise, might even have found something for my nightmare "Lounge suit" event

I used to love Whistles, especially for dresses. over what seems quite a short period of time the prices have gone up from around £90 to around
£140 for the nicer dresses. They are not the type of things you can get a lo;t of wear out of as they are semi occasion wear. Unless I get an unexpected wedding invite i won't be shopping there again in the near future. Thier sweatshifts with French words on were £89, perfectly nice but I have had a couple for around £20 from New Look that I have worn and worn and are of equal quality.

Very expensive polyester- not for me. Cheap clothes at an extortionate price.

I like a lot of the prints in Warehouse and Oasis, but not the fabrics.

I quite like some Warehouse online but in real life and close up, most of it looks like shit to me, albeit shit at £40 instead of £140.

Hullabalooo the last I heard of Jane Shepherdson she was travelling the world and making the odd podcast. She took time out after leaving Top Shop too so I'm still hoping she'll show up again.

Notinmyduty · 26/04/2019 11:11

So they take a good pic of the shit fabrics? To be honest I wish they'd all take a good pic of the clothes - whistles and cos photography can be shockingly poor.

Almahart · 26/04/2019 11:28

I love Jane Shepherdson - worked with her very briefly years ago and she was fab

Thanks for the other hints - will look at some other places recommended above and maybe try Warehouse online as the local option is just a concession so probably doesn’t have all the good stuff! Glad it’s not just me...
