Teeth white whitening and tea coffee

I have trays to whiten my teeth at home. My dentist has given me a whitening gel from Boutique whitening. My dentist said to avoid tea and coffee for 2 weeks! It's 16% carbamide peroxide. Do I really need to avoid tea, coffee and curries for so long??!

I’ve just done a whitening treatment with a similar product and my dentist explained to me that during the whitening process, the teeth surface becomes more porous, so that’s why they recommend no tea/coffee etc. He said not to go crazy, but the odd thing here and there would be fine.

I don’t think it harms, but I think it will just make the effects of the whitening take longer to become noticeable. I tried to stick to one cup of coffee per day. It was tough, but I don’t think this made the treatment any less effective.

Hope this helps!
