Please find me a dress to get married in

Register Office, just the two of us and some random witnesses we'll have to find from somewhere.

I'd like a non patterned and not particularly weddingy dress that I could wear for other occasions afterwards. Pear/hourglass shape, 5'8 and currently s16 (vanity sizing probably). Colouring 'soft summer' so anything yellow, green or orange toned makes me look like a bubonic plague casualty. It's been a shit few months with illness and death, I've been neglecting my own health and appearance whilst looking after others and am feeling pretty repulsive right now.

Could anyone find me a dress that I might feel good in please?

I work in a register office and yes be careful on the witnesses as members of the public are not keen to do this as they used to be in the past.
We sometimes get people who arrive looking for witnesses and it can be quite stressful! Recently a couple ran down to a travel agents and managed to get two members of staff! Always best to get someone in advance so you can still get married.
Have a wonderful wedding!

My original wedding dress almost 25 years ago was a vintage style, a bit Audrey Hepburn with a ballerina length layered chiffon skirt. T'was gorgeous. Shame the groom turned out to be an adulterous knob. Although it's still a style that I think looks nice, I want to steer away from anything like that.

I think we'd get witnesses sorted beforehand anyway happy as my lovely man is a big planner and control freak type person (almost opposite to me) so doing something totally spontaneous would be way too stressful for him. Problem is, we don't want it to be anyone we know as then it would seem that we were inviting some people to our wedding and not others but it's really not like that. We just want to be married without any fuss.

Lindybop is fab for this type of dress! Not expensive either! Great minds!! 👍🏻

They are pretty but as I mentioned earlier, my first wedding dress was a bit Audrey Hepburn style so although I like it, I think indeed something different.

People have got mumsnet tears as witnesses in the past! Strangers but organised.

in the blue? or this one although maybe not fancy enough. The miracle dresses are very flattering.

How weird. I've got 3 of your 4 already added to my bag sexnot. I'm not keen on the cape one. I like the grey but wondered if I'd ever get to wear it again. It's too weddingy to wear it to someone else's wedding.

I'll be your witness @poppym12 ! Are you in London? I haven't got much on like a holiday planned!

I love Ghost dresses - they go up to a size 16 and they are quite generously cut (I know coz I'm basically an 18 and their stuff fits me). They have a sale on at the moment too: www.ghost.co.uk
