Where is the perfect skirt?

Who can point me to the perfect skirt? I'm panicking a bit about what to wear when or if it gets properly hot. I'm normally in my jeans and a t-shirt (at work too as it's a casual dress-code) but I want a long-ish skirt for hot days and I'm going round in circles. I can't see the wood for the trees - talk myself out of everything I look at. I'm medium height, hourglass with belly, not too fat not too thin. And middle-aged so don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb. I need something I can wear with a t-shirt tucked in. Any ideas?

There was a nice one at hush - asymmetrical seam or something? £60/ Looked expensive and versatile (I returned it, but only because i'm too fat for it! It was a good skirt)

Thank you Betty, I've had a look at hush - what about this one

Actually it was this one www.newlook.com/uk/womens/clothing/skirts/black-ditsy-floral-tiered-maxi-skirt/p/627347809?comp=NewLookRecentlyViewedComponent

I actually prefer the other one I linked to, but sold out. That's the other issue, anything nice sells out super quick.

If you are hourglass with a belly, I wouldn’t be tucking t-shirts in!

That’s my shape too and I look much better with a fitted mid-hip length vest top. Not a tight tiny strappy one, but not loose. With a knee length skirt-preferably denim.

Sorry I've not been back to this, I've been a bit busy.

I hear you on the t-shirt tucked in thing. I think I knew it made me look pretty thick around the middle, even though I do go in at the waist from the front. Sideways on I look permanently pregnant! I have a couple of denim skirts, I'll try those with some shorter t-shirts, I'm always worried about creating bulk if wearing a non-tucked-in shirt but I guess a short one is the way to go. A bit counterintuitive for me because I'm always trying to buy long shirts to cover up my belly in jeans, I guess that's not such a problem if you're wearing a skirt.

and yes OP I like that feather one from Hush - except for the side splits. They dont' sit right on me I generally i think they make things look cheap

Try Mango, Boden (they're 25% off at the mo) and also Zara had some yesterday i'm pretty sure. Oliver Bonas? I bought a nice skirt there recently, though not your spec as such

MrsLeBon2 · 25/04/2019 18:53

Thanks @betty777, I'll check all those out
