Hair thinning advice.

Hello all,
I was just after a bit of advice, some tips, or recommendations for thinning hair.
Here's a bit about me.
I'm 47 with long ( down to my bust ) hair. It's messy wavy, so I have to straighten it. I don't straighten it every day, maybe 3 times a week.
Up until 5 years ago it was a medium thickness and always my best feature. Then my DF passed away suddenly and that is when I noticed a lot of hair was coming out in the brush, when washing it etc. But it didn't look noticeably thin, after a while not so much came out. But over the last 8 months it become noticeably thin. No bald patches or anything. Just very fine to how it was. I have used a shampoo called Nu Skin Nutriol shampoo, recommended and one by roots for hair loss. I have also been taking biotin since November and started taking Asda skin hair and nails vitamins (a recommendation from a dermatologist) .
I haven't noticed any difference with any of it yet. I know it will be probably take a while to notice any results. But just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like this and knows as anything that could help.

Thank you.

Hi OP,

Firstly I'm really sorry for your loss Flowers

I've no advice on supplements or products, but have you considered having your hair cut into a shorter style? I had very long hair when I had my first child went really thin after it started coming out post partum. I had five inches cut off to take it to shoulder length and the cut was very blunt on the ends. It immediately looked thicker and a lot better and I found the fall out slowed a little, probably because the hair was less weighty.

Hi OP, lots of threads and posts on tinning hair on here,i have the same problem, but now got about 3 bald patches, also taking biotin, and tried roots, not sure if its any good, as not used it much yet
I think yours is probably caused by shock and stress of your fathers death, i think mine could be stress related too, have you had thyroid tests as underactive thyroid can cause thinning hair, had mine done but all normal
If you scroll through the threads i am sure you will get lots of advice

Thank you @ReginaGeorgeous I was thinking of having a chunk cut off the next time I go to the hairdressers. I'm not sure I'll be as brave as you and have 5 inches cut off though.
Also thank you @princessTiasmum Sorry to hear you have some bald patches. It must be a worry, which I'm sure doesn't help either. I will search the threads and sort out getting a thyroid check. Fingers crossed 🤞something works for the both of us really soon.
