How to stop wrap dresses flapping open

I've bought a nice wrap dress, which looks lovely as long as I'm standing still, but the minute I move one leg forward (or get caught in a gust of wind) I'm showing off a lot more thigh than I'd like.

Should I stitch the two halves together? Stitch some kind of Velcro runner in? How do other people tackle this, and why do wrap dresses exist...

you either need a bigger size that wraps around more or just use a safety pin.

Use those weights in the hem like the Queen does?

Safety pin or a small popper, don't use velcro it will destroy your tights and possibly the fabric of the dress too.

Alternatively I normally put a suitably coloured slip under wrap dresses, prevents any thigh flashing or cleavage gaping. Then no need for pins or anything. And your dress doesn't stick to your tights!

Yep weights in the hem. Or wear a slip underneath (I like a slip despite being 41)
