I'm a bit plump, can I get away with a jumpsuit?

Cause I love them, but am scared of them 😂

Am approx a 16, but with a fair sized tummy after child #3. Am working on that though. I carry my weight well as am quite tall, but as I have fairly short hair I do worry about looking stumpy.

I'm about 5'8".

What do you reckon, jumpsuits/playsuits only for the slender?

Your photo looks great. IMO, if you have any sort of belly, you end up looking like this:

(Check your profile. For example, I am hourglass when looking straight on, but look pregnant when looking side on Sad)

I had a great jumpsuit when I took size 18. My experience was very similar to Ratonastick's. Mine was from New Look and had a sort of faux wrap style top and a highish waist, which always suits my body shape better. I lost a bit of weight and it is now too big for me, mainly in the boob area, which is a big problem with that particular cut as it would just hang open. I would definitely get it again in a smaller size but they're not making the exact same one any more.

I like play suits (short legged) more than jumpsuits as I'm tall, I don't think it's about your body shape, more the actual jump suit. Imo people saying to wearing one need to get out more and actually try them on or get a bit more adventurous in their clothes/style.
I don't like pencil skirts as they highlight my big tummy and as I have slim hips I just look fat, but it doesn't mean everyone should avoid them!

BusterGonad · 24/04/2019 09:00

Saying no to wearing one!

BusterGonad · 24/04/2019 09:02

Just reread and I sound like I'm contradicting myself, but playsuits/jumpsuits come in many styles and fits. So theirs one for everyone.

managedmis · 24/04/2019 12:48

Make sure it's not pale colours with stripes. I saw a woman once with one like that and she looked like a 50 year old toddler.

I got a lovely animal print one in Tesco a couple of weeks ago and it's very flattering. I'm a 14 but carry all my weight on my stomach. A lot of jumpsuits don't suit me but I'd highly recommend this one

QueenKubauOfKish · 24/04/2019 12:59

Oh agree with that - darker colours are the way to go. Years ago I tried on an orange jumpsuit in Mango - because I loved the print. But no. I looked like a net of satsumas.

Oops picture fail. Here it is!

Oh that's fab sangria

BarrenFieldofFucks · 24/04/2019 13:10

You look lovely! I'm going to try a few.

I'm not actually that image concious, but I think what it comes down to is that I'm not used to being this size. So even though I don't mind what I look like per se, I feel like people would be looking at me and sniggering if I looked like I was trying to wear something trendy...if you see what I mean?

That’s gorgeous Sangria, I’m so tempted to try again to find one that fits doesn’t give me a camel toe 🐪🐫

EllenRach · 24/04/2019 13:31

Agree with others - try a few on and look from all angles. I'm quite tall and a size 12 and I have tried some lovely ones on and some awful ones (despite liking them on the hanger). I get loads of compliments when wearing them which isn't very usual for me!

BusterGonad · 24/04/2019 15:54

I'm loving the Tesco one! ❤️

GooodMythicalMorning · 24/04/2019 16:09

Ive always hated one but bought one a week ago cos we loved it when mil made me try on in peacocks. looks better in real life. Im size 12 with fairly decent boobs and a good waist, before I lost weight they didnt sit right and also the legs on this one are longer rather than having that ankle dangler look.

managedmis · 24/04/2019 16:13

God, sangria, you look fabulous 👍

I might consider a jumpsuit actually

Fazackerley · 24/04/2019 16:13

I am about the same size and I ordered 3 jumpsuits from And other stories to try.

Liked them all so much I kept the lot!

Lifeaback · 24/04/2019 16:17

Sangria, that jumpsuit is gorgeous! Am going to keep an eye out in Tesco for it

I think it depends entirely on the type of jumpsuit- I suit wrap style ones with high waists, but I know the hush ones you’ve linked would look awful on me because of the low waist. Try a few on and see what suits your body shape
