Can you help me find a replacement for these sandals/flipflops before they fall apart?

Excuse my trotters.

These were given to me by a friend who brought them back from S Africa. I fear this is their last summer. As you can see they are completely flat which I wouldn't usually go for, but they have moulded themselves to my feet and are deliciously comfortable.

Does anyone know if I can get something similar without sending my friend back to SA?

'Barefoot' shoes usually have a completely flat, flexible sole. I'm lusting after these this summer - www.tikkishoes.com/adult-sandals - but they're not cheap once you add on postage!

TheFeet · 23/04/2019 07:38

That link didn't work but they're in the adult sandals section of the site!

The reason you love them and they have lasted is probably because they are hand made and the upper straps properly stitched into the sole.

Do you have a local market, we have one selling hand made sandals identical to these, possibly from Spain.

Ancient Greek Sandals or St Tropez are mega bucks but similarly hand made and well stitched. Or you could search for greek or spanish sandals on somewhere like etsy.

I wouldn't trust anything from the standard high street shops, they will be glued and crap leather, if they are leather at all, although style wise you will find plenty that look the part.

Have a look at LaidbackLondon Op - they do some lovely flip flops similar to yours.

A good alternative to the likes of K Jacques.

Thanks all! Some good places to investigate here - and will keep an eye on local markets!

have a lot at camel brand sandals from israel. you can get on eBay/amazon I think

XingMing · 24/04/2019 21:34

I had some Israeli-made sandals (Naot) that were bliss! The shop that stocked them has closed, and mine wore out, but I still miss them. I've just looked at the website and there's nothing similar now, but some others look okay.

Jennifer is the closest I found on a second look.
