Black tie dress

Help! I've been invited to a black tie event and am really lacking inspiration! Hoping you guys can help. I don't normally wear long dresses but apparently most people will be wearing long, so open to midi and maxi...anyone seen any dresses recently?

Op can you give more info to go on? Size, height, sleeves or not, likes and dislikes, slinky or not, plain or embellished, colour preferences.

I'm 5ft 7 size 10-12. Don't like strapless as I'll spend all night pulling it up! Open to suggestions on style- generally I'd say I like more understated clothes. Happy with different colors, like the idea of something like green or navy rather than black as I'm pale, but can always bring the fake tan out! Mid 30s if that helps too!

If you don’t normally wear dresses, what about an evening jumpsuit?

Not keen on jumpsuits on me. Love dresses just don't normally wear maxi dresses, more of a midi fan
