What material is this? and how do I stop it chafing?

Hello!

I bought some summer sandals in NewLook this week and on first wear around the house they fitted fine! After 30mins out of the house the rubbing started!!

Underneath the rose gold strap it is quite coarse and it has destroyed my toes! I couldn't go home and change so had to endure it for 3 hours and my poor skin is red raw.

What material would you say this is so I can find out how to stop the rubbing. I appreciate it may be too hard to tell through a screen. It looks like leather, however they are not real leather and the NewLook website just has "other"

I can't return as they're now worn so I need to try and make them more cooperative 🤷🏼‍♀️
Thanks!

Don't know the material sorry. I would try plasters on the underside to cover the roughness.

Or take them back as not fit for purpose or whatever the phrase is.

Could you glue a softer piece of material under the strap ? Like velvet Or a fine cotton ?
Annoying tho , I hate it when new shoes massacre your feet

Thanks all!

I will definitely give that moleskin a go.

They're so lovely I don't want to give up on them! Not to mention the £20 i would have wasted!

I have never had this issue before so quite naive with what works and what doesn't. I know some people heat the straps but I had images of me melting the strap as unsure on the material.

I'm accident prone with ZERO common sense. 😂

A bit of micropore tape sorts this out perfectly

@Tootrousers thanks! haven't actually heard of it so I will have a google.

Thanks for the comment!

It’s just medical tape, you can get it in any pharmacy or supermarket. Feels like soft paper but sticky on one side
