Dying grey streaks bright red?

Anyone done this? I've always wanted bright red hair but having very dark brown hair meant I never bothered trying... But now I have some pretty substantial grey streaks and I wonder if I use bright red dye now, will I get nice bright fun streaks in my hair, or will it all look a hot mess? Anyone got any advice?

The grey will give a variant but for best results go to a hairdresser who is a colour specialist. Lighten your hair and have the red applied over. It's high maintenance but worth it imho.

You might be right. Just been reading all those terrible reviews of colorista 'washout' and I really don't fancy green hair... Sigh.

My hair is bright purple. Partly to distract from the grey. But the grey hair doesn’t get caught by crazy colours. I have to dye my roots dark brown before my hair dresser puts foils in before the coloured dye goes over the top.

I have lots of white at the front. I put a deep pink Crazy Colour on about 10 days ago. It looked great, I got loads of positive comments, and now its faded but still looks pretty. I would definitely recommend this as a way of testing the waters before committing to anything permanent.
