Recommendations for best, long lasting, quick drying nail varnish?
Thanks everyone.

Nails inc are nice but usually require several coats but they do last.

OPI are great especially with their combined base and top coat.

I use any old varnish but highly rate Sally Hansen insta-dri top coat, it dries the polish really quickly and keeps it looking shiny for a good week to ten days.

I've tried everything from cheap to expensive and always return to Essie with Seche Vite top coat.

Thanks for your recommendations

I used to be a nail polish junkie. Used all sorts of brands from niche ones, high end to High Street. I had 250 plus! My addiction has gone and I only have about 50 now. And about 10 of them are from Primark. They are unbelievably good value - a quid, most of them are one coaters, and very long lasting. They beat a lot of the expensive ones hands down (pun intended).

My basecoat of choice is Orly Bonder. My top coat used to be Seche Vite but prefer Nails Inc Kensington top coat now. SV used to cause shrinkage on nail tips and gunned up quickly.

Essie. Absolutely brilliant stuff.

ButterfliesandMoths · 18/04/2019 22:29

Seems a decent top coat is the way to go? Is a base coat a must?

I have literally tried Essie for the first time today. I usually use Rimmel or Barry M, which are good, but the Essie is better. It went on beautifully and I was very excited!

Essie's mattes are shite though, Zoya had some matte nail polishes that were really good.

In that vein, Claire's! Claire's do lovely nail polishes, including mattes that last ages. I bought some last year. (I started a thread because I wanted a rose gold matte and found theirs.) I saw they had some dark jewel toned metallic mattes recently and I'm very tempted (although they're similar to Zoya ones I have already, but the bottles are so pretty!)

I really like the ones from Primark and Poundland! Lots of colours, cheap and cheerful, dries fast and the varnish tends to last better than some brands I've used before like No.7, Orly, Ciaté. Revlon and Barry M are also favourites that last long and dry fast.

Loubyloulou88 · 19/04/2019 02:41

Ciate Gelology range would be my go to.

GlossyTaco · 19/04/2019 03:06

Always use a base coat , I have boots essential base coat for regular polish or unt peel off for glitters. I find that Rimmel 60 second polishes have staying power , especially the metallic ones. Then a good top coat is a must , Sally Hansen insta dri is my favourite.

I get five days out of a manicure using these products , that's a long time for me as I use my hands a lot.

I tried the sv top coat after recommendations on here and although it's good and long lasting it absolutely stinks! Not like a nail polish but like white spirit or something , it made me feel sick so I stopped using it. The smell lingers long after drying too.
