Can you recommend flattering but practical swimwear

My tankini has been worn to death! Probably for the best as it’s so grumpy and a size too big... I need help finding something.

Criteria:
-I want to be able to swim in it, chase children etc with out risk of falling out
-I’m a size 12, good arms, bum and legs but easily look pregnant in stuff due to jelly belly, quite big boobs too. I like thick and secure straps.
-I want to be able to go regularly and not worry too much about spider legs for a unplanned swim with kids... I normally like shorts. So no super high legs.

  • holidays are just UK stuff, main use is pool and caravan holidays

Please help me look a hint of decent

I have a Speedo aquagem. Or is it watergem? They’re very similar. Traditional sort of styling. Bit of lift and separation for the tits. Bum coverage. No risk of flappage escape. Adjustable straps. Some tummy control. Sizing is a bit mean: I got the 12 when I’m a 10 anywhere else.

Isn't from the kind of stores I normally shop in, however, this is insanely flattering on.

binzo flapper escape Grin
After 7 years this is the funniest thing I have read on here

I bought a NipTuck swimsuit from TKMaxx, they had several designs to choose from.

Good coverage, slightly supportive around the tummy, accommodated my 34f boobs well. There is a fastening strap at bra level to help keep the boobs at boob level, not slumping down. I think it was about £19.

Daffodil2018 · 17/04/2019 12:14

The Sweaty Betty Dolphin swimsuit is ace. Very practical and flattering and the quality is great.

I got a really nice one from next a few years ago but I think they still do it, came in black or navy and was rushed over he stomach, didn't think much of it only got as was desperate for a costume not a bikini but it is comfy supportive and flattering all in one and now it's my faveSmile

I have a navy bra sized underwired Fantasie swimsuit that I wear with board shorts. They are quite short ones called Olaian from decathlon. They don't have the ones I have but the navy with pink trim is similar.
Best swimwear I've had, really practical and freeing in terms of playing with kids.

I hate my mum tum but not too unhappy with the rest of me so a nice high waisted bikini is a good bet. I have couple from Pour Moi and Boux Avenue also have some nice ones. Check out Next too, they had some nice swimsuits, tankinis, high waisted bikinis etc. Good luck Grin

Razzlefrazzle · 17/04/2019 13:12

Another vote for Pour Moi. Good range and high quality fabric to hold bits in where needed.

SileneOliveira · 17/04/2019 13:18

I got a lovely one from TK Maxx, the Nip Tuck brand mentioned upthread. I got it online and it was £20 delivered.

Also I quite like the Slazenger tankinis from Sports Direct, proper shorts and sensible tops which aren't too low cut. They're great for proper swimming rather than lounging on the beach.

Elllllle · 17/04/2019 13:39

Seafolly do fab tankinis with thick materials and ruching and also highcut boyleg type bottoms. Not sure what you can get in the uk but Figleaves stock some bits including a boyleg swimsuit

clandestinenetwork · 17/04/2019 15:03

I swear by M&S Secret Slimming swimsuits.

rosie39forever · 17/04/2019 16:35

Another vote for bra sized fantasie tankini, great support and doesn't ride up when in the water, they come with mix and match bottoms so you can have shorts, bikini or thong if you're brave!!

Betty777 · 17/04/2019 23:46

Boden have some really good ones. Decent quality, quite a few of them are stylish and good at hiding/supporting

StormBringers · 18/04/2019 08:33

Thanks, I’ve looked at all these styles and found one I like

Fingers crossed it fits! Otherwise I’ll actually go to the shops

@bonzo77 thank you so much for the suggestion of the speedo watergem.

Mine arrived yesterday (£25 new eBay) and it is perfect!!! Good stomach sucking in but can breath. Great boob support without underwiring (f cup here) as needed something for under wet suit with no underwire

Really impressed.

bonzo77 · 19/04/2019 10:10

@golightlytoday ah I’m so pleased. Which colour did you get? Hope you enjoy wearing it with flaps and tits fully and modestly restrained. Mine are off to the water slide place in Stockport next week so will be tested thoroughly.

golightlytoday · 20/04/2019 04:59

@bonzo77 well the black obviously to knock at least 2 stone off me GrinGrin
