Are these shoes too Granny-ish?

Hi! Can I ask your opinion re: these? Am trying to build up my supply of smart casual clothes, and thinking I'd wear these with dark navy jeans or navy fitted trousers. But not sure, are they a bit Granny-ish?

I'm 37 with 4yo, 2yo and 8 week okd, so practicality is paramount! I need to be able to drive, go for walks and bend easily for changing nappies excetera

Do they come in any other colours? They remind me of Tods. I would say in those colours yes. Sorry!

myidentitymycrisis · 16/04/2019 15:14

I have something similar and I’m 52, I like mine and they are so comfy and we can’t wear open shoes in work.
DP on the other hand refers to them as my ‘holiday shoes’ which I take to be a reference to cruise wear, and he’s older than me!
(Mine are beige suede with discrete siver trim)

They sound fine for what you need, but I probably wouldn’t get from M and S , because they do tend to add the granny factor to most of their good ideas imo.

SrSteveOskowski · 16/04/2019 15:16

I'm 39. Sorry but yes, they are granny shoes.

Alsohuman · 16/04/2019 15:39

Let’s put it this way, I’m 65 and I’m not old enough for those.

Fightthebear · 16/04/2019 15:41

Smart trainers instead?

Alexkate2468 · 16/04/2019 15:42

They are a bit grannyish...but...can you pull them off in a ‘granny-chic’ kind of way. How they’ll look over all depends on what you wear them with.

PineapplePatty · 16/04/2019 15:45

They aren't very pleasant to look at

troppibambini · 16/04/2019 15:47

Sorry it's a huge no from me.

Disfordarkchocolate · 16/04/2019 15:48

I have some similar these those in tan leather and they make me feel old.

applesbananasgrapes · 16/04/2019 15:48

I have seen a lot of loafers about and think they’re fashionable atm but I do think those are a bit too grannyish

Fooferella · 16/04/2019 15:49

Yes, they are. Sorry.

Bloomburger · 16/04/2019 15:49

I'm 44 and wouldn't dream of going out in those. MIL wears things like that!

What about some Air & Grace or Veja?

Pieceofpurplesky · 16/04/2019 15:50

I'm 50 and I wouldn't. I doubt my 78 year old mum would either

TSSDNCOP · 16/04/2019 15:53

I’m 50. No way. Instant pension.

Babyfoal · 16/04/2019 15:54

I've got some in bright yellow leather that aren't granny but still comfy

TSSDNCOP · 16/04/2019 15:56

Better

shoofly · 16/04/2019 15:57

I'm 47 and very "comfortable shoes" & wouldn't consider myself particularly stylish, but my Mum would've worn those...in her 70's

HopeOverAnythingElse · 16/04/2019 15:58

I'm 39 and I'm not sure my mum would wear those!

AnnabelleLecter · 16/04/2019 16:01

More like great great grannyish

AfterSchoolWorry · 16/04/2019 16:02

Yeah, they're bad. (I'm 49.)

Wavingwhiledrowning · 16/04/2019 16:03

Without the tassels you might get away with the black ones with some fitted trousers, but it would be a close call! The silver ones are a big old no from me!
I tend to go for Clarks pump type things or Toms to wear with skinny jeans/ankle grazer trousers if I'm after footwear like this. I'm in my late 30s.

Mapofthesoul · 16/04/2019 16:04

I’m mid 50s and I wouldn’t wear them.

ShirleyPhallus · 16/04/2019 16:04

Awful!

Office has some really nice loafers and brogues

Otherwise, Superga are cute and comfy with jeans and a tan Mac

RatherBeRiding · 16/04/2019 16:06

Loafers and deck shoes can be absolutely fabulous - but these aren't really all that stylish. Try Chatham or something similar.
