What does this mean for dh? I assume suit no tie? But more importantly me? It’s a drinks and nibbles party in London - business type affair.
Help please!

I was going for formal summer party look...like low key wedding. Jesus it's a minefield!

Second Cos dress in green made me look like a surgeon! Next!

Ooh, I think the navy cos one would be perfect (but I may be biased as I bloody love navy).

Maybe wear a bright statement necklace to de-somber it if you think it needs it.

And I think you'd be spot on.

I think XingMing has described it well.

Yes, a 'normal' suit for your dh (ie not tails or a morning suit or a dinner suit), but with a tie. I would say a nice 'day dress' for you. I'm not convinced by the later ones you've linked to, they shout a bit 'look at me'.

Are we now suggesting Tory wife? Such a wide variation of what is seen as acceptable - it’s not very clear, is it?

Here's Jigsaw's interpretation of "Day dresses" - not what I'd call appropriate either!

A Lou ge suit is a regular suit made of matching fabric. A tie is a must. Be mindful it’s not too skinny. You should wear a cocktail dress if it’s in the evening or a smart day dress if it isn’t.

Notinmyduty · 24/04/2019 17:44

It's from 6:30pm - 8:30pm - that's evening - yes?

Well, not Jigsaw's interpretation of day dresses then Grin
Half of those look like nightshirts or dressing gowns !

@BackforGood I'm guessing you mean something like this www.winserlondon.com/catalog/category/view/id/48

How about a jumpsuit with flat sparkly ballet pumps.

Notinmyduty · 24/04/2019 22:44

I have never even tried on a jumpsuit before! The whole stripping off to go to the loo thing holding everything off the floor Or any other surface has totally put me off! Can’t wear pumps either after trying on hundreds of pairs years ago when they were all the rage- I gave up on them.

Jigsaw are scraping the barrel this summer!

Have a look at brands like Maje, Ganni, Day Birger et Mikkelsen and Kierie.

Notinmyduty · 24/04/2019 23:11

Jigsaw definitely are not killing it, they are joined by Whistles and Hobbs, poor fabrics, frumpy styles and silly prices.

@SimplyPut Thanks, no luck with any of those brands, couldn't find anything under "Kierie" can you link to their website, please.Smile
