I used the size checker that apparently gives you the perfect size based on jeans you normally wear .. I'm 5.10 ,11stone 10 and wear Levi vintage 501 in a 33 waist. Normally a 12 to 14 in other trousers /jeans . It told me to order a 20 L !!! Never bought from them before but surely they aren't that small fitting 😂

Hmm, if it helps, I'm an 8 or sometimes a 6 in Boden. I wear 6/8 in next, 6/8 in oasis, 10 in Topshop. If you normally wear 12, order 12 and possibly 14 and send back what doesn't fit. Also worth reading the reviews as some styles do come up big or small.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 16/04/2019 10:43

I wear a 12 everywhere except Topshop and boden 12 is perfect.

Look at the size guide for the actual garment. For these jeans for example, a size 16 measures 34 1/4" waist and hips 42 ½"

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 16/04/2019 11:18

What measurements did you put in? Did you do something like enter your measurements in cm when it was asking for inches?

TheRumor · 16/04/2019 11:22

It doesn't sound quite right. It's probably best to get a tape measure and use your actual measurements instead.

I bought a pair of jeans very similar to these from M&S last week and had to size up. It could be something to do with the cut and how close fitting they are over the hips. There was also absolutely no stretch in them either, so found the pair I bit to be quite roomy in the waist but perfect everywhere else.

Itsalldramarama · 16/04/2019 11:23

Definitely in inches ! I wanted the vintage blue but don't have any in a long :(

Is it American 20? The sizing is 4 sizes bigger meaning they recommend a UK 16... that would maybe explain it? Are you on the UK site?

Itsalldramarama · 16/04/2019 11:40

Definitely uk , il look at m and s , I like the hush wide leg but don't want to pay £70 !

I hate these size calculators, especially the Zara one, which asks for height and weight rather than measurements. Absolutely useless if like me you have hips 16 inches bigger than my waist, and aren't the standard bust-waist-hip for each size.

ilovecherries · 16/04/2019 11:55

I did have to size up in those jeans, but only one size!

magicstar1 · 16/04/2019 12:01

@Isitweekendyet It's the other way around...a US 20 is a UK 22-24

Itsalldramarama · 16/04/2019 12:01

I like the looser cut of the M&S ones , il see how they look on :)

The customer service people at Boden are really good - I couldn't decide which size I needed of a dress and she gave me all the exact measurements of the dress so I could get the right one. Might be worth a phone call.

ScarlettDarling · 16/04/2019 19:49

Love the jeans op, which ones are they? I can't see them on the Boden website.

I am 5ft 10 and about 11 and a half stone and wear Boden trousery of all kinds in a 12L. Moved up to a 12 last year after putting a stone on with the menopause.
I bought a jumpsuit last week from them and the size thing told me to get a 12 long. I felt a bit lardy and need it quick for a wedding so went for a 14. It's massive!

321zerobaby · 17/04/2019 16:35

No need to ring customer services, every garment gives its exact measurements on the page, just click on size guide.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/04/2019 16:45

You definitely won't. I'm 5foot tall and 14stone and wear their size 16's.

RTBAdmin · 18/04/2019 07:59

If you are 5 10, and they are from the petit range, maybe that is throwing it out.

YouJustDoYou · 18/04/2019 08:01

I'm a 14 in almost all shops but a 20+ in Abercrombie, Superdry, Levis etc lol

tattychicken · 18/04/2019 08:03

Yes I thought that. You’re quite tall for the petite range!

Itsalldramarama · 18/04/2019 17:51

Lol I must have linked the petite ones ! No I selected the long :)

viccat · 18/04/2019 20:11

Their sizing is in line with M&S, White Stuff etc. brands in my experience. For jeans I do usually size up if I'm slightly in between sizes but only by one size so if I'm 10/12 I would order 12.

CountFosco · 18/04/2019 20:25

I think they're reduced their sizing recently (and the petite stuff always had more traditional smaller sizing), I have 2 medium cashmere jumpers and the older one is slouchy and the newer one is fitted. Looking at the sizes ties in with that. The dimensions for size 12 are the dimensions that most places have for a size 10. Of course that's assuming they actually make for those sizes, e.g. Jigsaw I have to go 2 sizes down from what they recommend in a lot of clothes.

Why don't you ordera few sizes and see what fits?
