Anyone get a Staud bag?

I really want one. Should I?

I have a Staud Shirley but I don't really use it. I like it but it feels a bit 'last season'.

fancynancyclancy · 14/04/2019 21:27

I like the Shirley but agree they were too popular if that makes sense. I like the Bissett shape.

Primark have their own version at the moment, if you just want 'the look' for around a tenner.

HundredMilesAnHour · 14/04/2019 21:50

Unfortunately I think the Bissett has the same problem as the Shirley....they were just everywhere and now look past their best. I'd go for something which is new this season such as the Hutton (I am totally in love!) or even the Alice.

fancynancyclancy · 14/04/2019 21:59

Drats, I was hoping the Bissett was quite classic & I thought a coloured one would lift my wardrobe whilst the weather is still so changeable.

I love those shapes too (my fave is the bubble/chess shape one) but I need cross body with 2 young DC’s.

going to sound like a snob SrSteveOskowski but I prefer leather, thank you though.

I have the Vitti in cranberry/burgundy. It's a bit like the Bisett but more practical for city life as it has a closed top and it sits nicer against the body, also not ubiquitous at all. I felt the Bisett only looked nice worn on the arm or hand, and a bit odd crossbody. I posted pics on the Parisienne thread of it on me, can probably dig those up again if you want?

Overall it's good value for money, the leather and metal work is good quality but it is smooth leather so it does require looking after as it's not a shape that ages well with visible marks. It doesn't require babying but you can't chuck it about either.

fancynancyclancy · 14/04/2019 22:21

Thanks botemps that’s very helpful. What’s the difference between the styles, is the Vitti flat at the back? How long is the strap? I’m 5ft 9 & it looks long which I like as a lot of crossbodys are short on me.

Good to hear the quality translates into real life & I think the price is really appealing.

OP have you looked at Danse Lente bags? They have some bucket bag styles and they're very good quality. A little more expensive than Staud but not massively so.

The Outnet have a Staud Vitti in stock although I think the colour is a bit dull (but that's just my personal preference)

I also have a Danse Lente bag, the Phoebe. Also very pleased with that. Blush

Yes, the Vitti is flat at the back and the strap is long, I'm 5'4 and have it on the shortest length possible and it's quite long on me. I'll dig up pics of the Stuad in a bit.

fancynancyclancy · 14/04/2019 22:31

The green one on the outnet would have been perfect but it’s sold out 😥😥.

Not heard of Danse Lente before so thank you. They are beautiful, I love the tan Lorna. Just a bit more than I want to pay at the moment as it looks too nice for the park/soft play.

No, that's okay @fancynancyclancy. You don't sound like a snob at all. I know what you mean. I have a very plain back and very plain tan leather bag. Both fairly classic shapes that go with pretty much everything and won't date.
I have Primark ones too because I won't pay a fortune for 'this seasons trend'.

Sorry if that sounds a bit funny. I'm not having a go at you or anything Smile

fancynancyclancy · 14/04/2019 22:34

Any other brand recommendations?

OP posts:
fancynancyclancy · 14/04/2019 22:36

Don’t apologise, it doesn’t sound funny at all! Tbh if Primark did online shopping I’d probably buy from there. I very rarely get to the shops so buy all online.

Thanks botemp

Aesther Ekme and Poléne are worth looking at too. The latter I'd avoid the suede, it's not that nice. I have a €100/€200 off code for matches when you spend €300/€600 (probably the same numbers in £) if you want it but it's only valid until today/tonight.

So I have the dull colour, claret 🙈, it is more vibrant in RL than in pictures and I'm finding it quite versatile as it's not usually a colour I'd go for.

You might like Linjer's Tulip bag but they are frequently out of stock (like now) but you sign up to be emailed when stock is back in. Then they sell out within a few hours/days (depending on the colour - black is most popular so is gone within a few hours, natural hangs around for a few days).

Or you might like Esin Akan. Small company and very helpful. Their bags are quite well thought out to look good but also be practical too.

Matches code is LF19.

Sezane also has a very similar looking bucket bag to the Bisett, not much cheaper but slightly less and all leather:

fancynancyclancy · 14/04/2019 23:13

Thanks ladies, will check out all the others mentioned.

I have that Matches code & have been adding the bag & some shoes to my basket all day. Feel like I’m missing out on a bargain if I don’t use it! 🙄
