Is it my age or is this really not workwear ?

Rixo are describing this as “the perfect Spring workwear dress”.

Yes, if you work in a casino but otherwise no. Or am I hopelessly out of touch and a crotch high split is the very thing for the modern career gal.

You're not wrong!

Wineinbathtub · 12/04/2019 19:24

Maybe not for work but it's perfect for a trip to the grocer's!

seventysevenpercent · 12/04/2019 19:38

Oh yes, that is definitely me at 8.37 on a Thursday morning Hmm

MyFavouritePlace · 12/04/2019 19:56

I agree with you but someone in our office was wearing a similar dress today. I work at a very corporate city firm who've recently abandoned a dress code. We can now wear anything apart from T shirts with offensive slogans and football shirts. Some people look like they've just got out of bed :)

fluffiphlox · 12/04/2019 20:18

Looks like my nan’s dressing gown.

optimisticpessimist01 · 12/04/2019 20:24

I made the big mistake recently of going onto Boohoo, Misguided and PLT for workwear. I'm mid twenties so thought there would be something a bit more stylish but still work-appropriate there

How wrong was I?! Shock

I wouldn't have even wore half the clothes when I was on a night out when I was 18!! How they have been deemed appropriate to put in a professional workwear section is beyond me. It also concerns me that younger people will think its acceptable to wear a bum cheek skimming skirt, and extremely low cut (to the point of the belly button) top!

Never again

IncrediblySadToo · 12/04/2019 20:24

Depends where you work I suppose.

It’s bloody hideous though

Pinkarsedfly · 12/04/2019 20:28

Gorgeous dress, I love Rixo.

Not workwear though.

Teddybear45 · 12/04/2019 20:31

Stuff like this is usually aimed at teens working in their first retail jobs.

WoollyMummoth · 12/04/2019 20:31

Those heels would be murder by about 9.05am. Her toes look really squashed. Jesus- I’ve turned into my Nan.

CottonSock · 12/04/2019 20:33

The slit would probably be at my knees. I bet model 6ft tall

LizzieMacQueen · 12/04/2019 20:36

I'm usually quite prudish but I think that looks alright for office wear. It's a decent length and no boobage on show. The thigh split isn't too high.

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 13/04/2019 07:23

I actually love the dress, but workwear? Nah! Not with that thigh split! As for those shoes being workwear I would rather quit that spend 12 hours in those (admittedly beautiful) torture devices!

JenniferJareau · 13/04/2019 07:28

Not suitable office wear with a slit that high.

user1457017537 · 13/04/2019 07:30

The whole look is hideous. What is it with flowers on everything!

StarlightLady · 13/04/2019 07:54

Speechless!

Djangor3725 · 13/04/2019 09:01

Need to consider what counts as "work" nowadays. Rixo did all their early marketing by bloggers & their "work" is definitely not in an office. I think the Kardashian Klan see their naked selfies as work so workwear can be anything

I work on a steel fabrication site. Perfect.

kbPOW · 13/04/2019 10:41

@boringlyboring Maybe pop on a pair of leggings underneath?

Hullabalooo · 13/04/2019 10:47

Have you got a link for that Rixo dress as I love it!

SinglePringle · 13/04/2019 10:50

Yup. Absolutely I would wear that and have worn similar to work. I’d wear it with white trainers or ankle boots though.

And I’m 49.

hatemyhairhun · 13/04/2019 11:59

I don’t think it’s that bad personally, not that I would wear it.

I think the accessories and heels are distracting you. Think no accessories and plain black shoes for work perhaps?

The model is standing in a way to emphasise the slit, I doubt it looks like that 100% of the time.

Also it really depends on what retailer you go to for their idea of workwear, as they will always keep their brand’s aesthetic first vs full on classic corporate style. EG Zara’s idea of workwear is a bright pink or red trouser suit, not particularly ‘classic corporate’ although it’s much smarter than most of their collection.

lasttimeround · 13/04/2019 13:22

With tights and boots yes. Also big long cardi if I'm at desk for ages getting cold. Depends a bit what that slit looks like front on the heels bare leg and camera angle make it look too much but could be fine

shitpark · 13/04/2019 18:33

That's me running errands after the school run
