So i have Jo Malone and Penhaligons - one from each, both nice. But I wanted something with a honey base and have ended up without that but with Amber from L'Occitane. So nice. Smells like play dough and smoke and vanilla.

I love L'Occitane perfumes.
Will give it a sniff!

Lamentations · 12/04/2019 15:54

I have the rose one from there, always get compliments on it.

Richlyfruited · 12/04/2019 16:33

Sounds lovely from your description but what is the longevity like? I love L'occitane perfumes but they don't last a minute on my skin!

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 12/04/2019 16:36

Smells like play dough and smoke and vanilla.

Urgh, that sounds vile!

To be fair I'm a total perfume philistine though, and my favourites are Ralph Lauren Romance and Marc Jacobs Oh Lola!

SouthWestmom · 12/04/2019 17:03

Haha, i love playdough. My mum doesn't get that. Dc said it smells like donuts. Then suggested maybe it changed to the scent you most like!

Longevity - added it to my wrist circa 4pm and still strong at 9.30pm when I made dh smell it.

Starts off strong and then fades to a persistent 'whiff'

I just want to move away from the safe scents I've always used hence the jo malone etc experiments.

Thanks! Sounds good OP - will have to have a sniff when I next go shopping.

You might also like Dior Hypnotic Poison if you like the vanilla/almond combination?

Leah2005 · 12/04/2019 19:40

I'd love a perfume to smell like a match that has just been blown out. I'm thinking this might be it! Will have to try.

SouthWestmom · 12/04/2019 19:58

Ooh thanks for the recommendation, I will sniff the Dior when I'm next in town.

Yes, might meet the match requirements! Sniff it and see.

If you like smokey smells try Maison Martin Margiela 'by the fireside'. My DH wears it but it's unisex, it smells of smoke and vanilla and lasts forever - I can still smell it on his clothes after washing them sometimes.

musicmum75 · 12/04/2019 22:28

Ooh that sounds lovely. Will check it out. Another vanilla/almond one to try is Elie Saab Parfum. I love it!

SouthWestmom · 12/04/2019 22:52

Fantastic . I'm going to sniff all the recommendations in the hope of adding to my collection next time I'm in town.
