Hair cut tomorrow I'm 51, don't wear makeup and have a big nose (I'm really selling myself here Grin )

My hair is brown and grey streaked.. gave up the dye 3 years ago and I'm not colouring it again, and after a particularly bad short hair do 18 m ago I have been vaguely growing it.

I don't want to go short but I am fed up of it hanging there (straightened) or just fuzzing out (naturally wavy). Shall I get a fringe? Layers? any ideas?

You're beautiful 😊

I think you'd look fab with a fringe.

Pianobook · 11/04/2019 19:50

I think you could go shorter and a bit sharper.

TheMightyToosh · 11/04/2019 20:01

Don't get a fringe unless you've had one successfully before. You look like your fringe area hair grows up and back and out to the sides like mine does (instead of forwards) - as a result I have never managed a decent fringe!

I actually think your hair is amazing as is.

LocalBadGal · 11/04/2019 20:04

Agree about the fringe. A soft long layered “French fringe” would highlight your lovely cheekbones.

Wow, I love your hair. It looks gorgeous. No useful advice from me..... although would suggest some colour for a change.....not a solid colour, more some interesting tones added through it.....

BrilliantYou · 11/04/2019 20:07

I don't think you should get a fringe. You look lovely. Maybe a bit of a trim and some long layers to take a bit of the weight out. Maybe try a loose wave. My hair is a similar length and I get the hairdresser to do a loose wave with the straighteners which I love, just haven't managed to master it myself yet Confused

Notcontent · 11/04/2019 20:07

Lovely hair!

HazardGhost · 11/04/2019 20:07

Agree a tad shorter, shaper lines and graduated slightly.

Your beautiful btw!

Springiscomingsoon · 11/04/2019 20:22

I'm with the fringe brigade! If you don't want a full on sharp fringe you can brush it to either side a bit.
And your hair (and you) look lovely Smile
Pls post an after picture Grin

dancemom · 11/04/2019 20:25

No to fringe

A chic graduated bob I'd say

clandestinenetwork · 11/04/2019 20:32

Don't go for a fringe.

You're beautiful.

Greyhound22 · 11/04/2019 20:33

You are lovely looking.

I like your hair but if anything would just have a sharper long bob.

StillMedusa · 11/04/2019 20:41

I could do a side fringe... a 'proper' fringe won't work as my hair just splits as per the picture...I can blow it down a bit but not fully.
I'm not colouring again ever (even though I know I might look a bit less old!) because I LOVE the freedom of no roots, less expense.and actually I like seeing my white streaks appear and spread... I tend to wear jeans or harem (proper nappy pants ones) a lot of the time so aged hippy is fine by me!

Perhaps some layers and a bit of graduation then? Maybe a bit of a side fringe (I did have one but it's grown )

Any pics would be great! I'm hopeless at asking for haircuts and have had more disasters than I can count...

I think just a trim and some long layers then loose curls like this. Wouldn't go much shorter. Maybe try and find some good products to help add some shine?

Angelinthenightx · 11/04/2019 21:33

Side fringe is nice it softens people's face, also layers do bring shape to a hair cut.

Sammysquiz · 11/04/2019 21:33

We’re not much help are we, the thread pretty much reads get a fringe, don’t get a fringe, get a fringe, no don’t get a fringe Grin

I think work with what you’ve got, and that if your hair is naturally wavy then you should try some different products to minimise the fuzz. This is totally hypocritical of me as I’m always straightening my wavy hair, but it’s totally frazzled as a result.

Sammysquiz · 11/04/2019 21:34

That’s my hair that’s frazzled by the way, I’m not saying yours looks frazzled!!

Margot33 · 11/04/2019 21:37

I actually love the colour of your hair. I would ask for a sharp bob. I wouldn't have a fringe through.

VanGoghsDog · 11/04/2019 21:38

I think a long side fringe would work but NO LAYERS. Your hair is a bit like mine and layers just fluff out on me. I'm the same age as you.

I'd say, just a few inches shorter, with a side fringe and shaping in at the ends.

whitehalleve · 11/04/2019 21:49

Just a little shorter would look great. You look good already.

OldAndWornOut · 11/04/2019 21:52

Maybe a little shorter and a side fringe?
It looks great as is, though. Smile

flumpybear · 11/04/2019 22:10

Lovely hair! I'd get a tidy and shape - sweepy fringe if you want a fringe as blunt ones grow out in minutes
