High spf budget face cream?

poshredrose · 11/04/2019 10:56

I have two bcc on face due to be removed and know I'm at a higher risk of getting more. I am covered with moles and freckles all over and am looking for a very budget friendly day cream.
My skin is oily but dry, I've recently tried a bb cream with spf 50 but i NEVER wear makeup and even the slight tint was too much.
I tried Aldi but that irritated my eyes. I'm currently using something from Asda but thats only spf15. I ordered a spray from amazon but don't feel like it covers.
I have a budget of about £10 at most and can't keep buying creams to try, need a good one. Can anyone recommend something?
Thanks

Have you considered just using a sun screen or does it need to also be a face cream? I use boots no7 facial sun screen

poshredrose · 11/04/2019 11:01

The ones I've tried seem to sit on the skin and make me very shiny. I do have points to use up so could try that one. Thank you

This is excellent

Altruist Dermatologist Sunscreen SPF 50 - high UVA protection, 100 ml (2 x 100 ml) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06X6LZWRC/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_enXRCbH7W2F8Z

katemate · 11/04/2019 11:16

The altruist one goes on like a moisturiser, not thick like most f50

OddBoots · 11/04/2019 11:18

If you count spf30 as high I really like the Simple one

OrangeJuiceandArmchairs · 11/04/2019 11:18

I love the Superdrug one but it's only spf 15

Definitely feels better on my face than sunscreen.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/04/2019 11:20

Calypso once a day sun lotion. My DH and DS use it and they hate the feel of greasy creams.

MrsMaryMooFace · 11/04/2019 11:32

Altruist is lovely I use it most days, and I have just started using an Avon matte finish spf50 which I really like too.

Ofthread · 11/04/2019 13:52

`This one was recommended in the Guardian: www.amazon.co.uk/Biore-Aqua-Watery-Essence-SPF50/dp/B01MTDFFQ5?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

BaaRamU · 11/04/2019 13:55

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi Protection Essence SPF50. Goes on before moisturiser, lasts for ages and is so light! I use it every day and I have oily skin too, it's never broken me out. Used it when I was skiing (and usually get some sunburn on my face) and no redness at all

Delatron · 11/04/2019 14:13

Altruist is great and cheap. Very high UVA protection.

bingohandjob · 11/04/2019 15:27

Using the Watery Essence one right now - I'm usually hyper sensitive to SPFs but, touch wood, this seems to be doing the job. Got it for a tenner on Amazon. Usually I use Eve Lom which is fab but very spendy and not a high SPF.

blamethecat · 11/04/2019 15:31

I Like the Body shop one, as a previous poster has said, very light to use and often there is a discount on the website.

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 11/04/2019 15:32

Another vote for the body shop one. Not at all greasy and high factor

Chesneyhawkes1 · 11/04/2019 19:13

I use the Body Shop one too

princessbear80 · 11/04/2019 20:05

I like the biore watery one and always recommend it. But I’ve also recently tried the altruist one mentioned above and so far (one day!), I really like it. It’s a bit easier to make sure you’ve covered your whole face than the biore one

Persimmonn · 17/04/2019 11:48

If you consider 30 high, I’ve been wearing Nivea Q10 day cream for years. It’s not oily but moisturises my skin really nicely.

lotusbell · 17/04/2019 16:00

I've had the Body Shop one before, had a friend who did Body Shop at Home, so bought to try last year when there was a 30 or 40% off offer. Have now picked it again over trying the Biore one and found it for just over a tenner on Ebay. Just hope its genuine. It's about £17 full price at BS.

LagoDiComo · 17/04/2019 19:02

For proper protection, you are supposed to wear a specific sunscreen not something in make up or moisturiser. However I like this one
www.boots.com/cetaphil-daily-defence-moisturiser-10246697. Often on offer in Boots

HaventGotAllDay · 17/04/2019 19:09

Everyone needs a separate sunscreen as you never put enough make up base on to get the same effect as you would with a stand alone sunscreen.

I use Frezyderm 50 but also like the Biore watery essence mentioned upthread. Neither are traditional "lardy" creams.

I like the boots one, plus side is if you spend £12 on regular sun cream it's free. It's the only one I've found I can wear comfatably. I also wear glasses and any other sun cream feels like my glasses are sliding off my face all the time and get covered in sun cream. Not with this one.

orangejuiced · 17/04/2019 23:06

I love the Altruist one. It is the only one that hasn't irritated my skin or given me spots.

MandalaYogaTapestry · 18/04/2019 06:33

www.timeless-uk.com/collections/sunscreens/products/etude-sunprise-mild-airy-finish-sun-gel-with-spf-50-pa this one is amazing. Doesn't leave any white cast, light and smooth. It is more than your budget but I am sure you can find it cheaper somewhere else. Highly recommended.
