Hair dryer recommendations please

My current one is on its last breath :( Stops working after 5 minutes and then needs a 10 minute break to come back to life! I cannot remember the brand as the name has faded away in 10 years!

I've seen other posts talking about Parlux vs Dyson and I cannot decide which one to get. My only concern with dyson is that I don't want to spend so much on a hair dryer Shock

I have shoulder length hair which is thick and wavy, but not in a nice way. I only wash my hair twice a week and spend about 10 mins trying to blow dry it do that it looks OK. I am growing my hair out right now, but it can be anywhere between shoulder blade long to just below the chin depending on my current phase of 'I hate my hair' Grin

If Parlux is the way to go then which one please?

TIA

I have a Dyson, sorry 😉. I'm really happy with it (as are the rest of my family). I know it's a lot of money, but I think that Dyson sometimes do instalments on their website or you could buy via QVC who also do instalments. I got mine for Christmas, bought from Boots. I got loads of Boots points.

pilates · 11/04/2019 11:53

Another one for dyson

OldGrinch · 11/04/2019 11:59

I have the Dyson one it's amazing. Dries your hair really fast and feels lovely after. I bought mine direct off Dyson interest free installment scheme. Also if you have Pay pall I think they do similar schemes if you spend over certain amount.

MumNeedsTea · 11/04/2019 15:02

Thanks all!! I'll have a look at the installment options.
If I show this thread to DH he's going to say 'I told you so'! He's a sucker for innovative appliances and suggested a dyson hair dryer a month ago BlushGrin

DH got me the Dyson for my birthday, I would never have thought to get it myself. I love it Grin

Nanasueathome · 11/04/2019 15:10

Qvc usually have the dyson hairdryer on 3 or 4 months easy pay too

Flesh · 11/04/2019 15:23

I've just done a product test on the new Panasonic and it's excellent. It retails at about £160 I think.

bingohandjob · 11/04/2019 15:31

I love my Parlux. It seems to dry my hair in half the time and with no frizz/fuzz. I don't think I'd buy anything Dyson on principle now (don't bother lecturing me why, personal choice).

Primotomb · 11/04/2019 16:06

I bought a Diva hairdryer following reviews on here and love it. Dries my hair in no time, with no frizz. Mines the Veloce 3800. Never used a Dyson so no comparisons, but the Diva is much less £

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/04/2019 19:16

I've used a Dyson but prefer my Parlux.

HundredMilesAnHour · 11/04/2019 19:19

I have a Diva and it makes me hair look amazing. And it's much friendlier than a Dyson (or Parlux) to my bank account at only £40-50.

worriedbutexcited · 11/04/2019 19:22

Ive got a parlux, possibly the 365 but I’m not sure. It’s fab, my hair is long, wavy and think and it can dry it in 5mins, 10-15 if I’m styling it as I dry. No frizziness and it’s lovely and smooth.

MumNeedsTea · 11/04/2019 20:28

The vote seems to divided between Dyson and Parlux and now Diva is creeping in too.. Oh I hate having to decide Sad, but thanks for the reviews!! Smile

I’ve checked and mine is the 385, had it three years now and it’s fab

deadsexy · 11/04/2019 21:36

I have Dyson but still prefer my parlux

Scoose · 11/04/2019 21:38

I love my ghd hairdryer

KondoKonvert · 11/04/2019 21:48

I just bought a Diva Ultimo after looking at a Parlux. Groupon has a deal on just now for £35 so much more purse-friendly!

stayfit · 11/04/2019 22:21

Dyson! If you have a John Lewis showroom go and try it to see the difference it makes. It's so quick and light weight. I ended up buying the dyson airwrap but the dryer is amazing too

Milomonster · 12/04/2019 06:53

Parlux Alyon is AMAZING! I bought it after having a crappy Boots one for years and the difference is incredible. I get a salon-like blow dry and it takes less time than the cheapo one.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/04/2019 07:06

Milo that's what I have,it's fab,isn't it?

Scattyhattie · 12/04/2019 07:39

I've got the parlux Alyon when my trusty babyliss died after 21yrs service, its very light, much quieter & getting nicer results with little effort. It doesn't seem like a blasting airflow but dries quickly.
Couldn't justify paying out dyson prices & i'm possibly irrationally irritated by their shit designed vacuum I have & everyone seemed to rave about thoseBlush.

Tkmax had some diva hairdryers in store.

Fstar · 12/04/2019 09:20

Another vote for parlux, drying time is half what it used to be

MumNeedsTea · 12/04/2019 09:29

Scatty I'm going off topic here, but why don't you like the dyson vacuum?? My stairs are so much cleaner since I got the dyson cordless! I just hoovered the entire downstairs in 10 mins.. I'm in love with it 😊

I have a GHD dryer, it's the best hair dryer I've had so far

Scattyhattie · 12/04/2019 15:50

Well I’ve just been to hairdressers & they used dyson tbh I couldn’t see noticeable difference with my hair (fine but thick) to the parlux although from it seemed slightly quieter.

Hairdresser preferred it as shorter body & lighter than usual professional dryers so made it easier to blow dry & no risk of sucking hair into it. The diffuser is excellent for curly hair apparently.

Mumneedstea oh an upright ball type I was given, main flaw is the hose is far too short to be able to clean much with, not even my sofa & previous upright I could get most way upstairs seems so stupidly designed. I’ve heavy shedding dog so vacuums have to clean a lot. Stick ones look good for floors but not sure how get on with cleaning everything else.
