Smart(ish), bright summer coat?

I'd like to buy a new, lightweight summer coat.

It needs to look fairly smart, and I'd like a bright colour if possible (not neutral). Not a jacket, as I don't want it too short.

Not a traditional trench coat - I have a couple of those already and I'm not a big fan of the style to be honest (they don't suit me!). And I'd prefer without a hood.

Anyone seen anything that might fit the bill? All I see is trench coats in the shops, or jersey blazers...

The only thing I can think of is an edge to edge coat but there don't seem to be many around. This one is close here at Mango but may be too short for you.

I am so relieved that those M&S long line blazers are pure linen - and therefore completely impractical - otherwise I'd be stealing from the petty cash tin to buy one this side of payday. They are gorgeous though and I might yet treat myself come the end of the month...
