I have just booked very expensive IPL treatment for my pigmentation on my face. I have to have no tan on my face, and thereafter I need to keep the skin sun free. As a runner this is a challenge,
I hate ordinary sun screen as it feels greasy and horrible, can you recommend what you use please?

This:-

It soaks in really well. I use it as a base to makeup everyday. Even without makeup, it leaves a nice fresh look to face. I've tried many over the years (Estee Lauder daywear and Clarins UV Plus) but this is much cheaper and better in my opinion. I normally buy a tube when Boots give out their £5 off No.7 vouchers 😊

KatharinaRosalie · 10/04/2019 10:51

I have La Roche Posay face mist. SPF 50 and you don't feel it at all

NiteFlights · 10/04/2019 13:26

Yep, the Boots no7 one is good. It stains white clothes like nobody’s business though.

Avene do one which feels pretty comfortable, spf50.

I can’t use sprays, watery textures, etc because my face is sensitive to alcohol, but if you’re okay with it they could be a better option. Both no7 and Avene are fairly moisturising.

snoozetastic · 10/04/2019 13:41

Eucerin mattifying for face comes in 30 or 50 I think - not at all greasy

JinglingHellsBells · 10/04/2019 13:41

I found the Boots one very greasy. It's a sun screen but not necessarily for use daily as a moisturiser or under make up.

I'm currently using Clinique Even Better spf 50 - can't remember the exact name without checking, but it's a small 30mls white bottle, and costs around £28. it's out of stock on their website.

I am going to try the Avene which is cheaper.

You might like Clinique City Block spf 40 but it's tinted and quite dark for me under make up.

Estee Lauder have brought out a new one which is either 40 or 50 and is very clear and totally mineral.

You could also look at Skinceuticals who do a good range.

I use heliocare, all products amazing. So light and forget you're wearing it and so strong. I live in a tropical country and have done for 16+ years so have road tested a few- this is the best for face.
When my son had surgery on his face, the plastic surgeon recommended it for him to avoid scarring, which it did. I snaffled some and have never looked back!!
Seems hard to find in the UK but I found this site and saw it's on amazon UK.

Thanks everyone
Really appreciate.
I shall try the number 7 one first, just because it will be easy to get hold of. But will keep a note of the others too.

Body Shop skin defence Sfp50 totally light and non greasy. There’s a 25% discount on at the moment if you order online

Make sure you go with a broad spectrum one rather than solely SPF

linetta1 · 10/04/2019 16:49

I use ultrasun spf 50, an antipigmentation one, and find it brilliant. I order from qvc, if you dont like their stuff you can return within 30 days, and only pay postage.

Danglingmod · 10/04/2019 16:51

La Roche Posay or Ultrasun.

Pinkrach · 10/04/2019 17:47

Heliocare- great under make up! Xx

PCohle · 10/04/2019 17:52

I also really like la roche posay, or else biore aqua rich watery essence is amazing.

Bubblysqueak · 10/04/2019 18:00

I use heliocare too. It's really good.

PreseaCombatir · 10/04/2019 18:28

Altruist factor 50.
It feels like a normal moisturiser, none of that usual greasiness

Delatron · 10/04/2019 18:28

La Roche Posey is the best one that’s easily available in Boots.

Delatron · 10/04/2019 18:30

Ooh but I have Altruist also and it’s really good. Very high UVA protection and it’s cheap. They’d run out on Amazon but think it’s back in stock now. I buy bulk!!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 10/04/2019 18:34

The Bioré UV Aqua Rich one is amazing. It is totally not greasy and makes a lovely base for make up.

MiniCooperLover · 10/04/2019 18:53

Oh yes I second the Biore

chickenninja · 10/04/2019 18:56

I third Biore watery gel! Get it from amazon, takes a while to arrive (I think it's from Japan) but it is bloody brilliant stuff. Sinks into the skin just like water.

princessbear80 · 10/04/2019 19:02

I use the biore one mentioned above day to day. With and without make up, it’s great. However - it isn’t sweatproof and neither are many of the others on this thread I would imagine. I use a children’s one from Asda (spf 50 uva + uvb) specifically for running outside, and wash it off with my shower after my run. It doesn’t feel great but it’s not on my skin for long and it stays put for the time I’m running. It’s less than £3.

PCohle · 10/04/2019 19:09

Yes that's v true *princess.

The biore one is very "cosmetically elegant" - totally transparent, sits well under make up - but I would probably use a thicker, sturdier sunscreen for when you're running. The la Roche Posay one in my experience would work for that but using a cheap one that you just washes off is a great idea.

missyB1 · 10/04/2019 19:15

I use an Asda one it’s brilliant and I wear it all day under my make up, cost around £2.50!

Lordamighty · 10/04/2019 19:29

Body Shop skin defence or La Roche Posay, both work really well.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/04/2019 19:34

The boots one is good. If you want a water resistant one, the Avène factor 50 lotion for children is very good - not sure we've ever found it in the U.K. though.
