Can't perfect my wardrobe!

Early 40's, reasonable budget...I buy from whistles, j crew, madewell, joules and Boden. Some uniqlo. I just never get the right piece or look. Tend to wear converse on school run or ballet flats (though have big ugly feet so maybe not the ones I'd really like). Live in skinny jeggings (never lose that pesky half stone!) How do I look better put together, how do people get their outfits matching so well. I try and stick to a few colours and no patterns but still never feel really good.

If you wear jeans and trainers a lot how about trying a different style of jean? So many different ones to try at the moment. Boyfriend jeans look great with trainers as do the raw edge straight leg jeans.
Keep tops simple - a nicely cut plain coloured t shirt and make the jeans the focus of the outfit.
Finish off with a nice jacket such as a khaki biker jacket or a jersey blazer and a couple of pieces of nice jewellery.

I think the thing to focus on is some 'completer' items:

Footwear - sports luxe trainers. I have a blingy pair which always makes me feel more put together when I'm wearing a really casual outfit.

Jacket - different style can really change the look of your outfit. I have a jersey blazer which I love and am now looking for a jersey biker jacket.

Accessories - I always forget jewellery, but love hair accessories.

Bag - I love bags. You could try getting a statement bag.

How is your general grooming? I think you need great skin, hair, brows, nails, etc and a basic makeup routine that works for you. Then you put the capsule wardrobe stuff on and top it with a statement item (bag/coat/jacket/jewellery/whatever).

Gemme it's not bad but certainly not as on point as I'd like it to be. I do my own nails (clear), dye my own hair, own tinting etc but probably 3-4weekly when it needs to be weekly/2 weekly. I know I feel so much better and put together when it's all done it's just getting in to the habit and I'm Lazy by nature!

What colours do you suit?

makemineapinacolada · 08/04/2019 20:47

I'm still not too sure - blue, esp navy, jewel colours although I don't any...think I'm a winter
