Is this dress posh enough for a poshish wedding?!

Going to a wedding in a posh stately home with garden marquee in June and looking for something to wear. Like the look of this but not sure if it is 'weddingy' enough so would welcome some views. Thanks. www.atterley.com/women/primrose-park-fiona-pink-leopard-dress-4

I love this dress which has a similar feel but sadly it looks as if it may be a dodgy Chinese company, despite showing a London address.

Nancy Mac has some gorgeous dresses

Pinkyyy · 10/04/2019 12:30

It looks too casual to me

Oblomov19 · 10/04/2019 12:52

Too casual. Too big, too non descript. Shame. What are you looking at now?

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/04/2019 12:58

Too big, too shapeless, too see through and too casual. I would take a trip to the high street and try on.

DeadWife · 10/04/2019 13:05

As lovely as you look in it, it doesn't seem worth that price. Also as PPs have said too flimsy/casual for a wedding?

DeadWife · 10/04/2019 13:07

Just re-read the description and it says 'beach cover-up" which explains it!

Starryskiesinthesky · 10/04/2019 16:56

It does have some more weddingy appropriate descriptions on other sites - honest!

It comes in an XS so I could get a version that fits but that doesn't solve the too casual, too see through issue too e pensive for what it is issue!

My new plan is to go shopping tomorrow and am going to look for a jumpsuit. I have a dress that I can wear that I got for a wedding last year and there is a gap between ceremony & meal and the evening reception so thinking I will wear dress for first part and then jumpsuit for night.

I liked this whistles one and it looked nice on but is dear for what it is.

www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/lola-print-wrap-jumpsuit/21057 this would be lovely with a pink/ yellow jacket . I’ve just sent for it and it is lovely on. I got an 8 as usual but wondered if a 6 would have done

Pinkyyy · 10/04/2019 19:00

OP if stay away from floral prints to be honest, the ones you're showing are too casual, try something in a single colour or a less defined pattern

This is lovely. Don’t agree about avoiding florals .

Alsohuman · 10/04/2019 19:55

I don’t either. You don’t get much more weddingy than a floral.

Starryskiesinthesky · 10/04/2019 19:56

Thanks! I am happy to accept advice (that's the reason I am here!) and I do think I tend to go too casual!

Will see how I get on shopping tomorrow and will remind myself to keep away from the casual!

Hi, I think the 2nd is best but colour not sure. Here some options.

The one @nooddsocksforme linked is beautiful. I don't mean a general ban on florals, but the ones the OP has shown are very difficult to the embellished one in that link.

Betty777 · 10/04/2019 21:21

Ooh I think i've found one that might suit you - saw this dusky pink one in the store and fabric looks expensive.

Also plenty of others that looked great.

Lots of decent long ones for under £100. Can you get to an Other Stories shop?

Starryskiesinthesky · 11/04/2019 14:58

Well, just finished shopping and got nothing! Closest things i liked were a jumpsuit from Hobbs which would have needed adjusted and a Whistles dress so gonna leave it for now!

Should have said thanks for all the links - especially the other stories ones - unfortunately we dont have one here.

Those Nancy Mac dresses that a pp has linked to are absolutely gorgeous.
I hope you find something OP.

kendoddsdadsdogsdead18 · 11/04/2019 22:35

From your picture, I think something fitted would be best. You look to have a similar figure to me or you're a little slimmer. Those willowy dresses should look good on paper but just don't seem to quite look right on me. I think that jigsaw jump suit style would be fantastic. A smarter version of that would be lovely, I reckon.
