Anyone had botox for face shape/Bruxism?

Hello,

I'm considering having this. I've always ground my teeth and carry so much tension in my jaw that it gives me headaches. I've woken up having bitten my cheek and lips and with raging headaches. I've also got a square face shape anyway but over time it's become even squarer due to the bruxism and I'm self-conscious about it.

I've just discovered that you can have botox in your jaw muscles to reduce the bruxism as well as face shape. Would be amazing for me if it works! Interested to hear if anyone has had this or can offer any advice.

Yes I have it and it is life changing. Significantly reduced my headaches and slimmed my chipmunk cheeks. Will never not have it now!

Oh wow thanks for the reply Badgal! Can I PM you?

Not a personal experience, but an Australian fitness personality, Ashy Bines, recently posted this exact thing on her Instagram stories a few days ago. She posted before and after pictures, from 2 years ago to now, and the difference in the shape of her lower face and jaw was really noticeable. She said she's had the injections every 5/6 months for the past 2 years.

Yes PM me or happy to answer any questions here!

Ah thanks Tilikum! Whats her Instagram account called? There were a few and some private ones.

Thanks Badgal, well if you don't mind me asking here where did you have it done? Was it painful? Can you eat properly now or does your jaw feel weaker? How often do you have it? Any adverse effects?

It's ashybines and she's wearing a yellow bikini in her profile picture. She's got 860k followers.

Unfortunately the before and after pictures were on her story and I can't see them on her profile now, so you'll just have to take my word for it! The difference was really huge, and she said it cured her headaches.

Ah no worries! Had never heard of her - I'll get googling her face Grin

I go to The Wrinkle Dr in Fulham, London which is a couple of hundred quid cheaper than the places on Harley St. I would only ever see an experienced Dr even if it is more expensive, because it can affect your smile if they do it in the wrong spot.

It is not overly painful, the needles are very fine but you can feel them a bit. The area is temporarily a little red but that goes within the hour. It feels a little bruised for a day.

I haven’t noticed any difference in chewing ability at all but I can’t clench my teeth at all now. I have had it twice, the first time it takes about 6 weeks to notice the difference as the muscle needs time to waste. My first lot lasted about 4 months then once I got movement back I had it topped up. I believe it lasts longer after a while.

After the first time I had a mild headache for a couple of days but that didn’t happen the second time so maybe unrelated. No other adverse effects at all. Hope this helps!
