Long length top for layers

pyard · 04/04/2019 15:54

I've been looking for good layering tees/vests for AGES. Maybe layering tops is the wrong word but I mean:
Tight, thickish material, longish length tees or vests that form the under layer.

I find that some of my tops or jumpers are more flattering if there's a layer to be glimpsed underneath. But all my old layering tops have lost their stretch or have holes, and can't be replaced. Everything I see in the shops is either too thin or baggy (doesn't sit right) or normal length (can't be seen peeping out from under the over-layer).

Anyone seen anything?!
Thanks!

Primark is great for this, I find they have decent length vests with good stretch

H&M too

pyard · 04/04/2019 15:57

Ooh thanks! I've been looking mostly online so haven't really thought about primark. Good idea!

My uniqlo and next ones come to the bottom of my jeans zip I’d say. Is that long enough?

LeavingTeaching · 04/04/2019 16:00

Sainsbury's!

TheWomanin12B · 04/04/2019 16:08

Next do a long line vest, I think.

CMOTDibbler · 04/04/2019 16:08

The Primark ones are great - they are labelled as camisole dresses

WiKi84 · 04/04/2019 16:15

Saw a range of long line vest tops and tees in Asda the other day. No idea what they're like though. I usually quite like ASDA clothes especially their jeans

thesunwillout · 04/04/2019 16:18

Nutmeg at Morrisons, good quality and cheap.

jumpingwithjoy · 04/04/2019 16:46

H&M have really good long tshirts in loads of different colours - nice cotton, wash well, I wear white ones under my sweatshirts etc all the time - they come to just below the bottom of my bum

BestIsWest · 04/04/2019 19:44

I had some great ones at Tesco, black, white, grey, navy. They are very long and snug.

Knowivedonewrong · 04/04/2019 19:49

Matalan have some good long line vest tops.

Jenala · 04/04/2019 19:51

I have tons of these strappy tops from H&M. Actually long, with adjustable straps and quite fitted so perfect for layering. I find all tops too short now since my last pregnancy left me with a funny shaped tummy so I completely rely on them.

mrscee · 04/04/2019 19:56

I get long vests from peacocks. I like to wear a vest under tops because often the tops are too short I have a long torso.

teta · 04/04/2019 19:59

Matalan are brilliant.
I did go through a phase of buying H&M but then they started making them with a really irritating trimming on the edges that I just couldnt wear any more.

hugoagogo · 04/04/2019 20:00

Gap are best for this ime here they stay stretchy after washing and don't fade.
My Primark ones are knackered after only a couple of washes.

CalamityJune · 04/04/2019 20:04

Primark again. I bought loads of long line vests in black and white when i was pregnant and theyre still going strong two years later. Cover my sizeable arse when i'm wearing leggings rihnd the house too. Pop long cardigan over the top and I look half decent!

hugoagogo · 04/04/2019 20:06

Or this? I suggest you might want to wear a bra though!Grin

Fstar · 04/04/2019 20:22

Long vests in yours are brilliant, primark and matalan too

pyard · 10/04/2019 09:17

Thanks for all these suggestions! I'm going shopping today armed with this list.

Matalan do long length vests for £4. I wear them underneath my clothes every day. Asda also do them, £4 or 2 for £6. They are fine but I think the matalan ones wash slightly better.

Pinkarsedfly · 10/04/2019 09:25

Hush

pyard · 11/04/2019 15:48

That's funny pinkarsed I was literally just looking at the hush ones online.

I bought the H&M ones yesterday as I was trying on trousers in there. They were fine when I tried them in but having one worn last night and another today I've discovered they're too small/awkward length on me. They basically ride up with movement and then kind of 'ping' up under my jumper. I'm quite long of body and also heavy on the belly, so I guess that's why.

I looked at the Matalan ones and thought they'd be too long but in hindsight I think I need them longer than I anticipated.

I definitely need very thick material.

I used to have the most perfect one and I wore it to death. I should have bought them all. It was the perfect length and the bottom 6 inches or so was a double thickness stretchy band, so it absolutely stayed in place and gripped, but didn't add too much bulk on the torso. SIGH.

I’d second the Hush ones. They’re excellent quality (much moreso than the usual offerings from Hush) and have lasted me absolutely ages, even after repeated washing and tumble drying.

Sinead100 · 11/04/2019 21:34

Try GAP. I don't shop there but got a fab black layer from there earlier this year!
Otherwise, Uniqlo and H&M !

PetuniaPetunia · 11/04/2019 21:35

M and S extra long vests
