Help me to look my best in 1 week!

Hi all!

I've got a couple of events coming up at the end of this week/early next week and I want to look my absolute best.

Here are some of the things I'm already doing/will be continuing, but any more tips at all would be great, thanks!

  • I already have a pretty clean diet but am upping it for this week.
  • Drinking lots of water (already back and forth to the loo every 5 mins!)
  • Hair mask
  • Face mask
  • I've chosen my outfits already
  • I already exercise every day and aim to hit all my steps every day

Basically, I just want to look and feel my absolute best, so any and all tips are welcome :)

Thanks in advance!

wow that list of what you're already doing is quite comprehensive! The only thing I'd add is body brushing. I've started this again (I usually take the winter off!) just 5 mins before I jump in the shower in the morning, start at the feet and work your way up, always brush upwards. Body lotion on after the shower. I always see a huge improvement in skin tone & texture when I do this.

HundredMilesAnHour · 02/04/2019 13:04

Don't forget your hands! Cuticle oil and hand cream every night before bed will help. I also moisturise my feet every night as I get into bed.

TellItLikeItReallyIs · 02/04/2019 13:48

Go to bed early if you don't already. It's amazing what this does for you.
If you are in bed with lights off by 10pm, it is transformative. My life doesn't allow for this full time but 5 days you can do it.

It also helps with weightloss enormously.

Cut out all caffeine and alcohol.

Pootles34 · 02/04/2019 13:53

What's your normal skincare routine? Definitely make sure you have some form of exfoliation - preferably liquid exfoliator or just use a good old fashioned flannel, but give your face a really good scrub - polishing in little round circles. Makes huge difference.

beela · 02/04/2019 14:30

Get your eyebrows threaded. I was amazed at what a difference this made.

ShirleyPhallus · 02/04/2019 14:31

Fake. Tan.

You’re welcome

Palominoo · 02/04/2019 14:35

I second fake tan.

Be careful though with the increase in water and face mask that you don't suffer an initial purge and breakout in spots.

Ohyesiam · 02/04/2019 14:38

Sleep , fake tan and face exercises. I know they sound crazy but my14 year old joined me in doing mine o crap and her lips looked mega luscious afterwards. Look up face fitnez on you tube

TellItLikeItReallyIs · 02/04/2019 15:14
  • 1 for fake tan.

If you are scared of it, Dove summer glow gradual moisturiser is great.
With that, it's very gradual so it's hard to go wrong. You only need to exfoliate before you apply it and make sure you don't leave any on your palms. You don't really need to use gloves as it's mild but clean your palms properly.

EatenByDinosaurs · 02/04/2019 15:18

The blue eye drops are amazing, really make your eyes sparkle and make an enormous difference.
Just make sure to put the drops in about 15 mins before doing your makeup so they have time to dry.

I get the Collyre ones but the Eyedew ones in Boots are great too.

TellItLikeItReallyIs · 02/04/2019 15:20

A french manicure always looks great as well .

EatenByDinosaurs · 02/04/2019 15:22

I would also try using a glycolic acid toner too, although patch test in case you get a reaction and then use the night before so your skin doesn't have a chance to start purging.

I disagree about cutting out caffeine, I switch to just black coffee (max four cups per day) and loads of green tea and it works wonders at stopping any bloating.

Pootles34 · 02/04/2019 15:33

Tellit I think french manicures are more a matter of personal taste, tbh, they're not as classic as they once were.

TellItLikeItReallyIs · 02/04/2019 15:45

Disagree I'm afraid Pootles - I think they are always stylish looking, make you look like you've made an effort but don't bring into play the problems with coloured nail varnish (which some people really do object to - cf The Queen, can look really vampy/slutty depending on colour and can quickly look "undone" with a slight knock or a chip which is really obvious)

It's an unobjectionable way to look finished. Another way is a light pink/natural nail but it looks less neat for some reason and is harder to get right.

ShirleyPhallus · 02/04/2019 15:49

I think French manicures look very 2007 now, very out of date

EatenByDinosaurs · 02/04/2019 15:55

With French manicures there's a difference, I think, between the pink with painted white tips and the just one or two thin coats of pale pink so that the white tips naturally show through.
The Queen and the royals do the latter, and it looks smart. The former with the painted white is getting a bit dated IMHO.

TellItLikeItReallyIs · 02/04/2019 16:00

They really aren't dated at all - I think we are talking about different things. I'm not talking about chavvy tippex white from the 80s!!

Queenbean · 02/04/2019 16:01

It is ok to have different opinions! But to me, French manicures are very dated now

PinkieTuscadero · 02/04/2019 16:06

I'm from the 'French manicures are dated' school of thought too.

Pootles34 · 02/04/2019 16:10

Oh yes love a neutral colour, but the painted on white tips are a little dated.

Blackbird1234 · 03/04/2019 09:46

Wow, thank you for all of the replies!

Skincare routine is pretty solid but will get an exfoliator later today, I have some Dove summer glow, I always wear my nails natural (but well looked after), I'm using hand cream religiously at the moment, my eyebrows are already looking good, I'll try being in bed early, will try the body brushing. Not sure about the eye drops as I'm not currently in the UK, but will see if I can get my hands on any.

Thank you ladies very much, I'm sure I'll look and feel fantastic for my events! xxx

I'm not in the UK either Blackbird but I get the Collyre Bleu eye drops from Amazon and even here they get delivered within 3 days.

If you're in Europe, Asia or Australia its usually pretty easy to pick them up from a pharmacy, or it was when we lived on those continents/country Smile

Really hope your night out goes well Smile

Blackbird1234 · 03/04/2019 13:33

Thank you @EatenByDinosaurs, I'll have a look on Amazon now. Thanks, I'm sure it'll be great :)

coloured nail varnish (which some people really do object to - cf The Queen, can look really vampy/slutty

What an unfortunate choice of word. Shame on you TellItLikeItReallyIs.

EatenByDinosaurs · 03/04/2019 18:35

Hope it helps blackbird they really help my sensitive eyes on days when they feel irritated too. Smile
