Hey All,

I've been using Clarins for years but I just can't afford it anymore ... Hydra quench £30-£35, Double serum £60+ & there's the eye cream! Confused ... Just wondered if anyone has downgraded from Clarins and if so what products did you turn to? Thank you Smile

Aldi Lacura And Botox.

Darlingheart · 02/04/2019 11:21

I've ventured into the world of Botox already! ... Aldi? Really! That's interesting, I'll look it up! Thank you Smile

The Hydra (something) range from Neutragena is similar in feel to Clarins hydra range. Blue packaging, light gel based formulas using hyaluronic acid.

EntirelyAnonymised · 02/04/2019 11:29

Google tells me it is called ‘Hydroboost’. Huge range.

As for serums, I’d be looking for a retinol or vit c. Something with a track record for improving skin appearance.

PouchofDouglas · 02/04/2019 11:57

I’m pretty sceptical about skincare. None of it makes much difference as far as price is concerned.

HundredMilesAnHour · 02/04/2019 13:01

My job was cut a few months ago so I'm trying to save money on skincare (and everything else!) so have swapped to Aldi's Lacura Caviar range and some of Superdrug's own brand for glycolic toner etc (as recommended by Sali Hughes in The Guardian)

www.theguardian.com/fashion/2019/mar/23/sali-hughes-best-beauty-bargain-skincare-body-products-under-15

I'm happy so far.

Darlingheart · 02/04/2019 17:27

Thank you for the suggestion, I suppose it's trial & error ... I'm going to start with the Aldi one Smile

Aldi Lacura is the same as Nivea not Clarins. I use it though and it is good.

HundredMilesAnHour · 02/04/2019 17:41

Aldi Lacura is the same as Nivea not Clarins

Although Aldi Lacura Caviar is allegedly the same as / similar to La Prairie.

GayParee · 02/04/2019 17:58

I believe it's Lidl's Cien which is Nivea not Aldi. The cream I had from Lidl certainly smelt the same as nivea.

I am currently on my second bottle of Superdrug simply pure serum which is really good (about to try their rich moisturiser and eye make up remover too), I use it as a second layer after something from the ordinary for vitamin c or similar. The also Lacura serum is really good, but I don't get on with their day or night creams too.

I have the simple cleansing oil which is every bit as good as the Bobbi brown one.

The inkey list glycolic toner is awesome too

itsellemelle.com/2019/02/clarins-beauty-flash-balm-vs-aldi-dupe-bloguary-day-8/

I just can’t find it in any of our local stores!

This is lovely though

And this is fantastic (not for face though)
www.playpennies.com/supermarket/lacura-miracle-cream-elizabeth-arden-8-hour-cream-dupe-just-gbp-399-delivered-aldi-180656
Great for lips, cracked skin, really dry hands etc.

I actually saw a Chanel no 5 dupe in Aldi today, I picked it up and smelt it (someone had opened it and tested it and dumped it) that smelt pretty good. I’m out of the real stuff so think I will go back and get one.

Autumnchill · 02/04/2019 18:08

I'm just trialling the Aldi range after suggestions on here. Was great when a big box turned up that only cost £35 😀 showed my husband my stash and asked him to guesstimate the cost, he went for upwards of £200

Mother87 · 02/04/2019 20:40

Another Aldi Lacura fan here... also a big fan of oils (regardless of whether your skin is oily/dry - mine's dry and i'm oldGrin) From Holland & Barrett or everytime I go on hols i stock up on a carrier oil and add neroli or rose or frankincense... game changers - really! They leave the skin really smooth and soft - have 'converted' many friends over the years...

MeOnSea · 02/04/2019 21:07

I used to use Clarins Hydraquench. I’m having just as good results from Eucerin Aquaporin Active. Looks like it’s on offer inSuperdrug at the mo

OxanaVorontsova · 03/04/2019 04:17

Vichy range from Escentual is fabulous
TK Maxx for some Clarins stuff, also other high end brands
Aldi Lacura creams are good but I find them too strongly scented

Tanaqui · 03/04/2019 06:15

I swapped from Clarins to Nivea- think it’s the Q10, but I used Clarins extra firming. I recommend looking at any without silicone (dimethicone) in.

DreamInDreamer · 03/04/2019 06:45

Thanks @HundredMilesAnHour for that link- it's a really useful article. I'm going to try quite a few things out.

user1457017537 · 03/04/2019 07:09

As Clarins is plant based have you thought about Neal’s Yard.

Darlingheart · 03/04/2019 12:36

Thank you so much for all your advice!!
I'm looking forward to trying all these different products to get the right match!

Sukin - really lovely stuff and nicer than Clarins (and am a Clarins fan, generally).

Notwiththeseknees · 03/04/2019 12:56

I nearly started a thread about the Lidl serum & day cream, but forgot. Basically I get hormonal acne around my mouth & nose (ugh) but as I've been out of the UK for a few months, couldn't see my GP for the anti-biotics that clear it up immediately. To add insult to injury, the cold has given me leaky eyes and I have rashes on my lids and in my crows feet. I'm a real stunner!!

I usually use Clarins serum & Anti-ageing Day Cream, but as I was going to be away for a while, packed all the random creams, hoping I'd use them up. My friend had given me the Lidl stuff as she didn't like it (her skin has very expensive taste) so I thought I'd try it. It's been sensational. Acne is 95% gone, skin is plump & dewy. The Lidl eye serum has even mended my eyes. We had both bought the range last year and I had simply forgotten how good it was, but it's cleared my skin up brilliantly.

Give it a try!

Darlingheart · 14/04/2019 12:06

Just wanted to say so far I am LOVING the Aldi Lacura Grin ... Thanks again!

Approvws foods sell Clarins at reduced prices.

I use the aloe body lotion and they had three for £30 once and I stocked up. They are genuine Clarins products.

BikeRunSki · 14/04/2019 12:12

M&S stuff used to be Clarins. Not sure if still is.
