Nose to mouth line fillers

Thisimmortalcurl · 01/04/2019 22:32

I could do with any advice and info from folk who have had this done.
I have booked myself in to get my nose to mouth lines filled in May.
I hugely trust my practitioner who had done my Botox for years and has won many awards in her field but I know my husband would go loop the loop if I told him I was getting this done.
My research so far is .. eat pineapple, take Arnica tablets for a week , no alcohol 48 hours before and ice plus use arnica cream afterwards .
I will not see him for about 48 hours after it’s done but I have the fear I will look like I have been beaten up or look totally different .
I know I want it done .. I have been thinking about it for two years and one side off my face looks almost scarred as the line is so deep .
Looking for any more advice / positive stories of having this done .
My place numbs you before hand , I find Botox a breeze , I have had extensive tattoos and 3 kids without pain relief but I’m actually quite scared about the pain .

I had it done a couple of years ago. Bit uncomfortable (about like Botox ) but well worth it. I bruise very easily and had a couple of small bruises which I covered with makeup and they faded after 24/48 hours - I think would probably have faded more quickly had I used arnica etc. My husband didn’t notice but I was pleased with the result. Gave me as much of a lift and refresh as a good holiday. IME i’d say go for it!

Thank you so much @ Mrsdrudge , if it’s likd Botox I can cope .. refreshed is the look I want

Had them done couple of times and last time 2 years ago. Make sure she does it slowly and meticulously along the line with tiny amount each time to avoid bumps.

I was swollen for couple of days but not massively noticeable. The surface skin damage peels so I had flaky skin for a few days but that was fine.

You'll be fine. The effect, if done well, is amazing.

Thank you @bugeyedbarber ( great name !)
That’s also reassuring.

Hi OP. I have botox around every 9 months, just in one area for those 11 wrinkles between the eyebrow.

A few years ago I went to Harley Medical Group for fillers, nose to mouth. She injected along the line and the results were nice but I was left bruised and it felt lumpy.
Anyway I didn't have them done for ages after that. I could really notice the lines more and I wanted it done again. I spoke to my dentist who told me injecting along the line is a very out dated procedure and that he injects to the cheek bone area using a cannula. He said this way is more natural as it is 're filling the little pockets that have been depleted with age.

I went ahead and I'm so pleased. There was a tiny pin hole on the side of each cheek that could no longer be seen (If anyone got that close to look) after a couple of hours.

He explained it all to me and how important that I don't change the natural look of my face but to just take it back a few years.

Have a read about the different injection methods and ask your Dr/ Dentist what she thinks.
Hope I've been of some help.

I am getting mine done later this month.
Can I ask how much you are paying? And how many mls they have recommended using?

Thisimmortalcurl · 02/04/2019 10:52

@MrsKHB , really helpful, thank you , tbh it has made me realise I actually don’t know exactly what she is going to do which is a bit bizarre for me as I would usually ask loads of questions.
I think because I have been going on about getting it done at some point for such a long time that she assumes we have already discussed it all .
I do trust her though , I had heard that about it being better not to treat the actual lines directly , hopefully that’s what is planned .
@HuckfromScandal .. I’m not sure about the ml’s but it’s £650 .
Will you keep me updated to how you get on?

That’s good to know.I a, really hoping for the outlay I will see and feel a real difference, It’s a heck of a lot of money!

MrsKHB · 02/04/2019 13:08

From the research I've done it can be between 280 -350 per ml. I paid 425 for botox and 1ml. It is a lot of money but I won't get botox for another 9 months and I won't need fillers for at least another 14ish months.
I don't spend as much money on 'miracle' face creams now, I just make sure it's at least 15 SPR.

For me, I think it's worth the money because of how it makes me feel.

Some practitioners will encourage you to return every 4 months but I've never done that.

No one seems to notice when I get it done and the people that do comment usually say my hair looks nice! I think that's down to me looking fresher and people just assume I've had a hair cut. I'm in the Midlands by the way, London prices may be higher.
Let us know how you get on.

bugeyedbarber · 02/04/2019 20:52

If done well, filler will last for up to 2 years.

Ask for local anaesthetic to be applied at least 30 mins before procedure and take a strong pain killer at the same time - I take solpadeine. This takes the edge off as I found that area painful.

My favourite face tinkering was filler into cheekbones to lift my jawline. The effect is incredibly natural and pretty much instant. It also took about a half a stone (as the lift gave me definition in my cheeks) and at least 5 years off me Grin

BadlyDrawnBuoy · 02/04/2019 21:40

Using a cannula will reduce bruising. If you take fish oil regularly you should stop for two weeks ahead of the procedure (I speak from bitter experience!) Don’t take aspirin / ibuprofen immediately before /after as that can exacerbate risk of bruising too. Apply ice immediately after and for next few hours.
If you do bruise I recommend Vichy Dermablend to cover the bruise, but you’ll need to knock it back first with red / orange tone. There are lots of YouTube vids with advice on cover up techniques. Good luck !

langkaw · 02/04/2019 21:43

I'd as well that you are more likely to bruise if you're on period.

Thisimmortalcurl · 02/04/2019 21:48

Thanks everyone, all really useful info.

uknownothingjonsnow · 02/04/2019 22:21

Agree with what a PP said about not being injected in the actual lines but in the cheekbones. Gives a natural better result and using a cannula is less chance of bruising. You'd probably need a 1ml each side

ZaraW · 03/04/2019 12:11

My friend has just had this done she went to a reputable person. The results aren't good her cheeks look weird as if she's had marbles stuffed in the apple of her cheeks.

Thisimmortalcurl · 03/04/2019 18:20

@ZaraW .. oh no , was it initial swelling that went down? That’s my fear really . I don’t want them to change my face , just get rid of the line a bit.

OP posts:
ZaraW · 03/04/2019 18:24

No it's been like that for ages. She is really beautiful naturally. Now all I can see is the cheeks. She has a small face so it's really noticeable.

ZaraW · 03/04/2019 18:26

I guess she hasn't just had it done I don't see her that often but it's never settled to look natural.

PurplePiePete · 03/04/2019 19:23

both doctors I've been to see about fillers have said that it's no longer considered good practice to fill the lines themselves, but to fill at the temple and cheek to give form to the bones which deteriorate with age and that has the effect of lifting the face - it's replacing the structur which has gone, causing the sagging and the line rather than leaving the sagging.
I think however that it requires a lot more filler to do it that way and therefore it's more expensive

MrsKHB · 05/04/2019 00:28

My dentist started off saying he'd need to use 2ml. But after he'd done my 1st cheek he said 1ml was going to be fine, and it was.

ZaraW, does your friend know that the fillers can be dissolved if she isn't happy with them? It doesn't sound too good if they look like marbles in her cheeks

ZaraW · 05/04/2019 09:08

MrsKHB she hasn't said she dislikes the results so can't really say anything.

Thisimmortalcurl · 22/04/2019 18:15

@HuckfromScandal .. did you get it done? How did you get on ?

I has mine done today!!

Apparently the reasons for the nose to mouth lines is because my cheeks have sagged. So the fillers went into my cheek. Weirdly the biggest change so far is under my eyes even though that wasn't a focus for me. I look brighter and more awake.

No local. It hurt about as much as waxing. Results should last about a year I'm told. No bruising and no swelling.

Thisimmortalcurl · 24/04/2019 16:42

Oh , sounds great . Were you nervous ? I’m quite worried .
