Hair being coloured tomorrow. What do I need to know?

OK, I have never had my hair coloured before and am wondering, do I wash it tomorrow before I go or does that affect how it takes? Do you still not wash your hair for a couple of day’s afterwards too, or have things moved on since I was at school? Grin

If it makes any difference I’m going blonder (and covering grey).

Thanks for any advice!

Have they tested you with a little dye for you to go back after 24 hours ?

Just do as you'd normally do, no need to wash it before unless you normally would, or to wait to wash it afterwards.

If you're going for an ash tone you might want to get a purple shampoo and conditioner. Lots of recommendations if you search this board.

Thanks. Yes, they did the test last week. All good there.

Thanks. I thought maybe havin product in (only a light mousse spray) might affect it.

Just bear in mind that if you're going lighter, the only way to get rid of that colour is growing it out.......

I went for the blonde highlights way of covering grey.... I'm 3 months into growing mine out and it's bloody horrific. My hair is like straw and the dark roots growing through are making it look greasy. For the first 3/4 years it looked amazing and def disguised the greys well but the colour build up has completely ruined my hair and I'm gutted I ever started. I've had to have around 5" cut off so far.......

As for washing, I normally waited around 48 hours before washing again, and like another PP said use a purple shampoo every so often to stop it looking brassy.
