Ingrown hairs and epilating

Over the past few years I've epilated my legs about 5 times. Every single time the hair grows back just underneath the skin. And it's not just a couple of hairs but ALL of them! I dry brush to exfoliate, keep skin moisturised and have used tend skin/ingrown go etc all to no avail. My hair is thick and dark, and grows back within hours of shaving, so I really don't want to go back to that again, and I can't afford laser. Waxing produces the same ingrown results. What am I doing wrong? Am I destined to have to shave forever?

I gave up with epilating, took nearly a year for my hairs to settle down, really messed up my skin. I think when it works it's great but it doesn't always.

I have a Smoothskin IPL machine. You shave the hairs off first, then use the pulsed light. Use it regularly and you soon start to see regrow the slow right down. I haven't used it for ages, but I have hardly any hairs on my lower legs now. In fact, you've just reminded me to dig mine out again in time for summer!

Oh and TendSkin is good for ingrown hairs - I think you will get a similar effect from using soluble aspirin dissolved and a cotton bud. I believe it's salicylic acid.

Thanks - think I will go down the IPL route eventually once I have the money, will try the aspirin tonight though!
