The Cigarette Trouser

OK, believe it or not, these are the only trousers I have ever truly loved. I just don't have the shape for any sort of jeans other than skinnies which I find so uncomfortable so only wear them for nights out.

I am not as skinny as this at the moment, but have embraced my curves and just want to find a flattering pair of trousers for weekends and for work because I am aware that as soon it gets warmer I won't be able to rock the 80 denier tights and skirt combo every day!

These are from Zara, and I will fit into them one day again... But until then? I looked in h&m, topshop, M&S, primark, tkmax and debenhams today before running out of steam. I am probably about a 12/14 at the moment, 5'2", bit of a tum, massive bum.

I see curvy girls wearing high waist jeans and trousers and they look so good on them, but something about my proportions mean high waisted look daft on me!

Any ideas?!

Only pic of me from the waist down wearing my beloved cigarette pants!

Have you tried Next? They've got cigarette pants in a range of colours this season, I've just ordered a navy pair for work. Never tried cigarette pants before - I'm 5'8" and size 18 so completely different body shape to you and fear they will look awful, but worth a try!

H&M have some online, and Boden does them as well. I haven't bought any from Boden recently so can't vouch for the current style fit-wise but still wear my ones from several years ago regularly to work.

GAP often have a decent selection of trousers and are flattering, good quality. Always look for a discount code - usually minimum 25% off available..

samlovesdilys · 30/03/2019 22:02

Boden?? The Richmond trouser??

HaventGotAllDay · 30/03/2019 22:50

Oasis and Warehouse both have nice looking cigarette trousers.
Richmonds go weird and crumply round the knee though the fabric is lovely when you first put them on. Not sure they're cigarette trousers, although tbh, I'm not sure what a cigarette trouser is!

Ofthread · 30/03/2019 23:03

Zara, honestly.

TheTalentedMiss · 30/03/2019 23:07

Try Zara skinny chinos (they're not skinny despite the name)
Boden - Richmond or Hampshire

Jigsaw

Crimbles · 30/03/2019 23:31

Have you tried ASOS petite?

LittleWingSoul · 31/03/2019 10:42

Thanks everyone! I'm liking the look of the Richmond trousers. Will check out oasis and warehouse too, I never think to shop there! Gap too.

Zara do cigarette pants really well.

WhenIsTheEasyBit · 31/03/2019 13:38

Matalan of all places. I have seven pairs. Fit like a glove, fabric irons beautifully. Work well with flats or heels.

Ninkaninus · 31/03/2019 17:18

M&S should have a fair few options.

Ninkaninus · 31/03/2019 17:20

Oh just saw you’ve already checked M&S.

Maybe look in the sales from places like whistles, Reiss, Jigsaw, jaeger?

christinarossetti19 · 31/03/2019 18:21

Agree with GAP. I've had several pairs from there over the years.
