Are fascinators old hat?

I'm going to a wedding soon and was wondering if a fascinator is a bit of a frumpy/dated thing these days? I've worn them in the past but I'm not sure now...

If they are out and you can't do anything with your hair (short), what do people do to dress their 'head' up?! I think a hat might be too much, but feel like I might look underdressed otherwise.

I like quite a big almost 'statement' fascinator -hatinator?- I'm still wearing them Grin. I got a decent sized one from Debenhams, but Etsy and others have a good choice in whatever colour you need.

I prefer them to real hats - easier to keep on your head. But I only like the ones that are big enough to look like hats.

Apparently fascinators are indeed out now but I'll follow this thread as I also have a wedding to go to this summer !

I'm loving Rachel Black hatinators!! Grin

thenightsky · 29/03/2019 16:12

And they don't give you 'hat-hair' either.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 29/03/2019 16:16

They're only out on MN.

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 29/03/2019 16:17

Dated and fussy.

Swiftier · 29/03/2019 16:57

I’m in my early 30s and so have been to a lot of weddings in the last few years, barely anyone had worn fascinators. Only the older ladies/mothers of brides/grooms.

mistermagpie · 29/03/2019 20:40

Bit of a mixed view then! I'll admit I like them because they seem to finish an outfit off nicely for a wedding, but I am conscious that they are probably quite a dated look. I do like hats but that might be OTT, so maybe a hatinator (what a ridiculous word...) is the thing?
