Help with new jeans

I need some new jeans as I'm starting to look like a badly stuffed sausage in my faded skinnies. What style of jeans are currently fashionable for a 40 something, woman? I have no idea.

Whatever you pick DO NOT go for the high waisted jeans. They look nice on a 20y but not on a 40y.
Then it really depends on your body shape. You need to try a dozen to find the one that fits you and makes you look go.You don't want to look like a squeezed sausage but neither want to swim in your jeans. Who going for the skinny jeans, try a size up as well.

I'm 5'8" and a size 16.
