Your recommendations for gradual self tan please!

Just that really. I have quite pale skin (tans eventually but burns easily). Am dreading the beginning of summer, when I’ll have to get my white arms and legs on show, so have decided to be proactive and start getting a bit of colour. Which gradual self tans are the most natural looking?

Anyone?

I like the Dove ones, seem to build up gradually. Could always mix with some plain dove moisturiser as well if you wanted it to be even more subtle?

OP, look at the Skinny Tan range. It's so good and a really good price. It's the only one I use now.

MaryBoBary · 28/03/2019 18:21

I’ve just today bought the Garnier summer body one. I was going to try St Tropez gradual tan Sculpt and Tone, but that was £15 and the Garnier one was £4 - thought I might as well try it out first for that price. My mum uses the Garnier and swears by it but she is slightly darker toned than me, I am lily white! I’m going to use it tonight so I’ll report back. Might even go as far as remembering to do some before and after pics!

RiojaHaze · 28/03/2019 18:23

The palmers cocoa butter one is the best one I've tried, or the st tropez if you want to spend a bit more.

ServelikeSerena · 28/03/2019 18:27

The Clarins drops are good but spendy. They last ages though.

Baconislife · 28/03/2019 18:34

Bondi sands is really good

littlecabbage · 28/03/2019 19:24

Thank you for all the recommendations. No consensus so far then? Maybe they are all fairly similar.

Yes please MaryBoBary, do report back!

The Garnier one is fantastic, I have the light one for winter and dark for summer. It's brilliant.

TeaForTheWin · 28/03/2019 19:27

I've tried maybe 7 or 8 over the years and I would say the best one was garnier, followed by palmers (coconuty one) and then dove. In terms of tanning. I'm pale too. Only think is I took a mad ichy reaction to the Garnier one so...I tend to stick to the later two. But either way, a couple of uses of each and you'll really be seeing it. Ps: sometimes medium/dark skin version is a better move but might be wise to start of with the lighter one just incase.

MoltonSilver · 28/03/2019 19:34

Dove summer revived, fair to medium skin.

littlecabbage · 28/03/2019 22:16

Perhaps I'll try the Garnier one first then. Thanks all.

I forgot to take a before pic but I used the Garnier this morning after exfoliating and shaving - can hardly tell I’ve used anything, just a slight bit of colour and I wasn’t stingy with it. So I’m really pleased because there’s no streaking, it looks natural and I’m confident I can build it up over a few days. How did you get on OP - have you tried it yet?

PauperTroll · 30/03/2019 18:28

I've not used one for years but quite fancy one for my face. There used to be an Olay one that was really effective and didn't smell of biscuits.

princessTiasmum · 30/03/2019 19:25

I use the Garnier summer body,it takes very quickly and you can get a light one or a darker one,i use the darker one as it doesn,t go too dark, but shows up quicker, otherwise the Dove

cuppycakey · 30/03/2019 19:28

I use the Dove one and find it very easy to use.

I tried Garnier but as a very freckly and moley person, it didn't suit me at all. I ended up with very darkened marks where all my freckles and moles were Sad

None of those problems with Dove

littlecabbage · 30/03/2019 19:50

I haven't had chance to try any yet but it's good to hear the feedback. I have quite a few freckles/moles so am now wondering if the Dove one would suit me better. Hmmmm.

I've tried them all.

Dove is my favourite.

dontlikewinter · 30/03/2019 19:52

I use the dove one too, no complaints here and no streamlined either

dontlikewinter · 30/03/2019 19:52

*streakiness

Backseatonthebus · 30/03/2019 19:56

I'm also fair with freckles and much prefer Garnier to Dove. The light shade is perfect for me.

Tealfrog · 30/03/2019 20:03

I find Dove very smelly. The problem I have with granular tanker than need to be applied frequently is that i end up smelly of fake tan all the time. Eould be interested if any of these didn't make your skin smell permanently yuck.

RavenLG · 30/03/2019 20:10

Palmers coco butter one here too. I love it.

SpeckledyHen · 31/03/2019 09:15

Clarins drops . No smell .
