Straighteners - wide plate or normal

DD has very thick, wavy/curly shoulder length hair but wishes it was straight. I got the Lidl straightening brush for her recently after reading good reviews of it, it's quick and easy to use but it doesn't make it straight enough for her or last very long. I have decent straighteners with very narrow plates which heat up to 230 degrees which work well on my short hair but using them on DD is very time consuming, so I'm looking at getting her a pair. I'm not wanting to spend loads so not looking at anything too fancy like GHDs. Question is, do I go for 'normal' width plates that are as hot as mine or ones with wider plates? I've seen some Remington and Babyliss ones with wide plates and decent reviews for around £30.

I've got thick hair. I've had both wide and normal plates. Prefer the normal - find them easier to use.

I've got long, thick hair and used to have normal GHDs, when they gave up the ghost I replaced them with these www.amazon.co.uk/KIPOZI-Professional-Straighteners-Digital-Display/dp/B07BDFR3W5/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?psc=1&s=gateway&keywords=wide+straighteners&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1553780707&sr=8-2-spons as a stop gap. 2 years later and they're still going strong and I love them, much prefer them to my old GHDs.

Long, thick, fuzzy/curly hair here and I prefer the normal narrower plates.

I find the wider plates a bit bulky and awkward to use.

I use the wide plates because it’s quickest (if it was a special occasion I might go over the top layer again with thin ones to get nearer the scalp). I’ve been using wide straighteners for the last 20 years and have had various brands at varying prices but I always find Remington much better than the rest (even than cloud 9’s)
