Biotin supplement recommendations

My hairdresser recently suggested I take biotin supplements to help the regrowth for the hair loss I had when pregnant a few years ago.

Can anyone recommend a good one that’s helped?

I reckon it is best to try a vitamin and mineral supplement with 'everything' in -eg one that includes Biotin rather than one on it's own. Boots and Superdrug's one vit/mineral mix contains Biotin.I know cos I got it for that reason too! Some vits and mins work together so it makes sense.

B Vits work together, so it's best to get a multi B vitamin. This is the one we use as it has the full rda or more in each pill.

I would recommend seeing your GP & getting your B12, folate & iron checked before starting any supplements though. All of these cause hair loss & ime are a more common cause. Info in the link on problems getting a B12d deficiency diagnosed & what to do about it ... www.b12deficiency.info/

Otherwise this supplement is as good as it gets, but be careful to check there's no significant amounts of B6 in anything else you take as this has the full rda of that too & it's a Vitamin you can overdose one. The high dose in this has worked wonders for DDs skin & period problems though, it's been a real godsend

Just have a look on amazon. Im on a 10000 tablet strength one. However i also use mane and tail shampoo and take folic acid and multivitamins so cant tell you how well they work on their own. However i can tell you ive got a heap of new baby hair coming through on my hairline after just a couple of months and hair and nails are in much better shape.
I also do a head massage with essential oils once a week. Sandlewood, mint, basically anything that stimulates the scalp.

Just be aware that biotin can cause acne. An alternative supplement is silica.

JD I believe that's because it knocks other B Vits out of balance & uses them up, that's why a multi B but might be best. We need B12 injections & they will cause acne if you don't get the balance of cofactors Vitamins right, which is why we take the ones I posted below (with extra folate)
