Foundation makes me look like a corpse!

I wear double wear-and I LOVE it!-until it comes to photos on a night out. Then I look like I haven’t seen daylight since birth! What’s going on?? I’ve got a night out coming up with some beautiful people and I do not want to look like the dodgy friend in photos...
I like a full coverage. Any recommendations or suggestions would be gratefully received

Double Wear is notorious for flashback I'm afraid.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 27/03/2019 18:41

I use Rimmel 25hr foundation which is good coverage,I've never had "flashback" with it

HaventGotAllDay · 27/03/2019 18:45

I knew you were going to say Doublewear! You need one that is "photo ready"
I had a Chanel one that I loved till I realised I was rocking the mortuary slab look.

Ohyesiam · 27/03/2019 18:49

Try Chanel Perfection Velvet, I started using it when I needed more coverage. It is the most flattering thing I’ve ever put on my skin.
I’ve been known to put it on one side first so I can marvel at how I look 10 years younger/ 10 times prettier on the made up side!
Not flashback.

Good luck with getting samples! I rarely have that luck. Only time I did was in Paris - they bombarded me with sachets of Helena Rubinstein foundations. Of course that will mean going back to buy one as they no longer have HR here!!!

Baxdream · 28/03/2019 10:33

Try it cosmetics! They do it in some large Boots, I absolutely love it

SrSteveOskowski · 28/03/2019 11:18

It's the SPF that creates the flashback. You look fine in real life, don't worry. It's just the photos.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 28/03/2019 12:28

Oh my god this is so me! It used to literally look like there was an actual grinning corpse in amongst my friends on photos of a night out! 😂

I have tried so many different foundations in my quest to look like a live human in photos. Whilst it's true that SPF does increase the flashback, even in foundations without I still get it.

I have discovered that it's the coverage that does it. A full coverage foundation, just by its very nature of providing that 'mask' on the skin, means that light reflects off the stronger pigments. It doesn't help that I am pale which makes it worse.

The only thing I have discovered to combat it is to switch to a medium foundation. Bourjois Healthy Mix doesn't give any flashback, and neither does the Primark £2.50 medium cover foundation in the black tube (which is my actual holy grail foundation now, I just love it!)

Also, be careful which powder you are using as some of those can cause that chalky flashback as well. I use the healthy mix pressed on and it seems OK.

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 28/03/2019 12:29

Also, if you were to look through my old camera roll you would find tonnes of selfies of me with different foundations on, foundation on one side, bare skin on the other, flash on, flash off..... The struggle is real! Grin

OverwateredCheeseplant · 28/03/2019 14:30

Another vote for healthy mix, it really does make you look healthy!

Ps if you want samples I tend to ask for them based on the fact that I have extremely sensitive skin and often react to things- they can’t refuse on those grounds. Always works.

Blowfishies · 28/03/2019 16:37

Hi!
I managed to get a Bobbi brown sample and a Chanel one, then I got bored.
I’ll give them a go and hope for the best!
Thanks for all the tips. I’ve heard lots of good things about the primark stuff!
