Jeans size 14/16 for teenager

Posted earlier today in Chat as could not recall what this board was called.. Grin

DD2(age 19) is in a complete state today as the jeans we ordered for her once again do not fit. It is so hard to find her anything that fits and is fashionable

Any suggestions for places to go?

We have had suggestions for Monki (doesn't fit) her thighs are quite wide so that creates a issue for the jeans. I don't really want to go to Primark . I do not mind supermarket jeans and nor does she however she doesn't feel they fit well. Cost wise I have gone up to £100 for her siblings so am happy to get towards there..

I take the same size in jeans and mine are all from M&S and New Look. I have a pair from Warehouse but had to go up to an 18 as their sizing runs quite small, in my opinion.

BoswellsBollocks · 26/03/2019 22:39

April jeans from Matalan are great. I think they’ve got fewer decent styles this season though but you might find something there

I have quite wide muscley thighs and i quite like Oasis jeans although my current pairs are a few years old now. I do tend to go for more flared style myself (from the knee rather than the hip) to balance me out - skinny jeans just make me look like i have parnsips for legs!

LizB62A · 26/03/2019 22:44

I'm a size 16 with chunky thighs and agree with @BoswellsBollocks - give Matalan a try, I've got 2 pairs of their April jeans and they fit really well (according to my slim and very honest sister, anyway!).
I've also got some black jeans from M&S

mummyfinger · 26/03/2019 22:46

I'm a size 14/16 and I swear by Next, their jeans are very generous and comfortable.

DragonMamma · 26/03/2019 22:48

Tesco Contour Jeans, I think they are called. They are £22 a pair but great for chunky thighs!

Yabadabadont · 26/03/2019 22:49

Try Bershka, I’m currently living in their push up low rise jeans size 14... really comfy

Jaffacakebeast · 26/03/2019 22:51

Get a zozo suit (google it) and you can buy made to measure jeans for about 50/60€

ATowelAndAPotato · 26/03/2019 23:02

Here to second Next for well fitting jeans. I mean, they have consistently fit me well in the right size as I’ve crept up from a 14 to a 20. Like all shops, they have a range of styles so wherever you go will need to try in multiple pairs.
Jeans you are happy with is like the Holy Grail though, you just have to keep looking til you find them

Cherrypie32 · 26/03/2019 23:07

Next, the more expensive ones though, around £40 I think. They hold my 14/16 tummy in, don’t ever bag at the knees, keep their colour and shape. Lift, slim and shape I think they’re called.

BlueMerchant · 26/03/2019 23:09

I'm a 14. Like Peacocks jeans.

mozzarellasticks · 26/03/2019 23:26

I'm a 16/18 and love Dorothy Perkins jeans. I have 3 pairs of the Frankie jean and although they all fit slightly differently they're still by far the best jeans I have. Good price and can generally get away with a size smaller! They do different leg lengths too (I have very long legs and can never find any to fit)

Spartak · 26/03/2019 23:30

I like my Next jeans. The basic navy skinny ones don't go baggy at the knees and have kept their colour well.

dontgobaconmyheart · 27/03/2019 04:27

What style of jeans is she after OP? What are the specific ssues with the fit of those you've encountered so far that aren't suitable?

Hollywoodcheesecake · 27/03/2019 04:33

I like Mint Velvet and Guess jeans. I have a big bum and thighs and a small waist and have problems with jeans gaping at the back but both those brands fit well.

Bleary3000 · 27/03/2019 04:50

SimplyBe
NewLook
M&S

KittyWindbag · 27/03/2019 05:48

Order a load off ASOS. They have all different brands on there and whatever she doesn’t like/ doesn’t fit can be collected from your house next day at your own convenience!

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/03/2019 05:51

Matalan, Next, M & S.

RainbowWaffles · 27/03/2019 05:56

I have rocked a similar size in the past and only Next jeans seemed to consistently work. As pp have said their sizing is on the generous side compared with some other retailers. If you don’t have a shop nearby, you can order a selection of styles and sizes with next direct and easily return what you don’t want.
