Nice shoes for the summer for flat feet ?!

I have very flat feet because of a life in flip flops and wellies. Does anyone else have this, and have you found some supportive but nice shoes / summer footwear?

I love sandals but can only wear Birkenstock's or similar because of the arch support

BigusBumus · 26/03/2019 12:20

Birkenstocks and Fitflops both have good arch support and are very comfortable once you get used to them.

I second the fit flops tho only one specific style work for me else I have to grip with my toes and I still get foot pain

I can't wear ballet slippers or open sandals because I now have to wear arthritis insoles, so I feel your (literal) pain. It's very difficult to find anything that's supportive but also summery, and more often than not I end up in canvas trainers. My employers are fairly easy-going about dress code so I can get away with them for work, and I find the TOMS brand do some OK ones if you prefer to keep your feet enclosed. If that's not a particular consideration, then other than Birkenstocks or Fitflops, you might want to check out Hotter and JD WIlliams.

Thank you that’s great . Are fit flop true to size ?

I had some a bit like these last year and they were so comfortable. I have plantar fasciitis so I'm really particular about shoes.

I found them true to size.

Ooh just seen the tortoiseshell Lulu comes in 5.5

I think Clark’s has some good stuff this year. I have fallen arches as well so I’m in the same boat unfortunately.

Thanks - can’t see any on Clarks site but fitflop have a few

I have flat feet too. I wore Fitflops for years but found they were destabilising my knees and ankles and giving me arthritis. I now wear Vionic shoes pretty exclusively and have no pain at all. My gait is also normal due to the arch support and Correct heel positioning. The only drawback is Vionic are expensive so I tend to buy in the sales or on eBay. I wear the flat loafers, flip flops and heels and they’re all surprisingly comfy.

I second Vionic. They have loads of styles and I have been investing in a pair each year and now live in them all summer. If I wear normal flat soles even for short walk I get pain, but totally pain free with my Vionic sandals :0)
