I’m in the market for a pencil or twist up one. Got pens but need a softer one for day time. Reddish hair and pale skin so maybe a khaki or grey or something? Got John Lewis vouchers to spend so can be a nice one Thank you!!

I've been very impressed by a new one I've got from Barry M - reminds me of the 24/7 urban decay ones. I've got it in grey but it comes in a few colours. It's about £2.99, you could spend your JL vouchers on something else...

Girlinstripedpyjamas · 24/03/2019 18:15

Good point - where can I find Barry M?

I quite like the Clinique one in grey blue or a Nars one in a khaki colour. Both are twist up.

I got my Barry M eyeliner in a large Boots. Bought some eyeshadow as well and they had an offer on for a free nail varnish (metal-something is the name) and I was impressed. Haven't used Barry M for years but I'll be using again.

The Pixi Beauty eyeliner pencils are lovely and soft and comes in loads of different colours.

NicoAndTheNiners · 24/03/2019 19:56

I like the Nyx jumbo eyeliner pencil

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/03/2019 20:08

Mac do a khaki one called (I think) Uniform, which is nice I like Clinique and Urban Decay eyeliners too.

TheGirlWhoLived · 25/03/2019 07:28

I’ve been very impressed with my clarins eyeliner, not too harsh by soft and smoky but stays on a treat

TeddyIsaHe · 25/03/2019 07:31

Second the Clarins eyeliner. Really lovely to apply/blend and doesn’t move once I’m finished. Lasts ages as well.

MachineBee · 25/03/2019 07:35

I love my Trish McEvoy gel eye liner. It’s really soft, has a smudge sponge and comes in several colours including aubergine. Only disadvantage is that it’s imported and when I last bought one it was only available from Selfridges online. It cost £14.50 so a bit pricey but quite honestly it’s the best one I’ve ever used. I’m in my 50s so need a really soft one.

Loubyloulou88 · 25/03/2019 09:15

Oh and the Marc Jacobs ones are lovely too. Very pigmented and soft.

Soap and Glory Smoulder Kohl is excellent, only about £5 too. I usually only buy premium brand make up but have bought this one for years - nice and dense black, stays put but also smudges if you want. The sharpener that comes with it can be temperamental though so I tend to use my own.

ColeHawlins · 25/03/2019 14:28

Rimmel Exaggerate Smoke N’ Shine Eye Definer in Copper.

It's cheap as chips and it's a really good texture. Better than some of the ££££s ones I've tried wasted money on.

I also have it in more conventional, evening shades and it's available in brights too.

SionnachGeal70 · 25/03/2019 18:21

Stila Smudgestick glides better than either Clinique or Mac twist up pencils and has good staying power - comes in lots of shades.

Alsohuman · 25/03/2019 19:00

Another vote for Marc Jacobs, Stone(fox) is a lovely grey.

Pickyourownpickles · 25/03/2019 19:48

I second Clinique - I have the quickliner in smoky brown for a nice everyday look. I do prefer my bobbi brown gell liner though if I'm making an effort, it needs putting on with a little brush but it's not that much more effort really and it looks better than what I manage with the quickliner. I have the gel in expresso ink which is slightly darker brown than the clinique one.

HaventGotAllDay · 25/03/2019 19:50

I third the Clinique quickliner. Until I tried it I was meh about any eyeliner being different to the bogstandard couple of quid itchy scratchy pencil.
Will never change from the quickliner now. Brilliant stuff.
