DIY balayage to cover greys...

I've got a very overgrown balayage (nearly a year old...) but nearly fell over when presented with the bill last time I had it done at the salon.

I'm now wondering whether I can DIY it. The blonde bit I'm fine with, Iused loads of box kits when I was younger but I now have greys so would need to do the top half too in a more natural shade.

I'm fairly gung-ho with DIY stuff like this as I know it grows out eventually but I also don't want my hair to go green.

Is there an order I need to do things ie dark first then blonde or vv? Is it a stupid idea altogether?!

I doubt you can do proper balayage on yourself, but you can obviously dye your hair at home

Two tone "balayage" to cover greys sounds like a complicated business. Even straightforward balayage sounds difficult to do on yourself.

Could you be a model for a student to practise on perhaps?

Thanks for student suggestion, I think I'm too impatient for that, sadly.
